No really - Don't Panic!

MisterHouse is a VERY large home automation program (well more of a framework really).

Beginners get all excited about the possibilities, install it, start reading the docs and then get overwhelmed with the amount of options and hardware it supports and some of them give up...

This page is here to say that we've all been there. Don't panic! You don't need to do everything at once! Install the basic Misterhouse framework and only activate a few modules that you're interested in. Once you're happy with those (give it a few days), pick some more and activate those. Pretty soon you'll be comfortable with how MisterHouse works and ready to move onto the next step of writing some of your own code!

Again, Don't Panic! There will almost certainly be some code that's similar to what you're trying to achieve. Take a copy of that code and tweak it to what you need. If it runs - fantastic - you're a fully fledged open source developer (don't forget to send the code back to the community so others can enjoy your work!). If it doesn't work, join the mailing list (DiscussionForums) and one of the great guys on there will point you in the right direction! We're one big happy code developing community!

Good Luck - Stick with it - and Don't Panic!
