Passengers for regular car modes

Hi Matsim community,

Is it possible to use passengers for regular car journeys (no taxi or public transport)  ?

Thank you,

Ecaterina

There are several ways in which I think I can interpret the question, but I will interpret it as a question for "in car as passenger" as valid mode.

There used to be "ride" as a mode, but at some point it did not survive a refactoring, and the reason why it did not survive that is that it probably never worked as intended.  See MATSIM-427 .  Also see  .

Options that I can see for you:

  1. Implement it as "freespeed factor" teleported mode.  See 4.6 and in particular 4.6.2.2 of the user guide.  Obvious problem is that this will not be congestion dependent.
  2. Try to implement it as outlined in MATSIM-427, i.e. with congested vehicles of size zero.   outlines how to do this; importantly, under vehicles you would have to set pce to zero.  I have no idea if this works; please let us know if you go into this direction.  Also see 11.1 of http://matsim.org/docs/userguide .
