Differences between drt and taxibus contribs

by Ossian Strömberg on 2017-07-07 15:05:00

Hello MATSimians,

I'm trying to understand the differences between the drt contrib and the taxibus package within the taxi contrib.

In particular, it's my interest to find a unique way of modeling microtransit services like Bridj, Shotl, Kutsuplus, Chariot and so forth.

Thanks for your time and patience.

Best,

Ossian

Hi Ossian,

DRT is definitely the way to go.

But yes, this is somehow confusing. Taxibus was a quick, provisional solution and has never become an official one. For the time being, we keep it there only for reproducibility purposes, but one day we will remove it.

DRT is quite new, so still not well documented and as computationally optimised as taxi (not taxibus). However, we have just finished the first study with this module: J. Bischoff, M. Maciejewski, K. Nagel; City-wide Shared Taxis: A Simulation Study in Berlin (http://www.vsp.tu-berlin.de/publications/vspwp/). Maybe that will do as a starting point.

Best,
Michal
