How to check whether device is genuine
//Add here notes about how to physically inspect the package and the device. The Ledger manual could work as a reference//
The first time the hardware wallet is connected via USB, the device's screen should show something like this this:
//The Skycoin logo is upside down in this images because the images are from a development bootloader. It should not have this problem in the consumer devices.//
That is what the device shows when it has not yet been initialized and a firmware has not been installed (software responsible for making the device work). All skywallets are sent without firmware and without initializing, so the device should never show another screen the first time it is connected to a pc or it would mean that the device has been manipulated by a third party and it is not safe to use it.
Please note that when a device has a firmware it shows something similar to this when connected:
If you see that screen the first time you connect the hardware wallet, please DON’T USET IT.
Also stop immediately if when connecting the hardware wallet the device's screen displays this message:
It means that the hardware wallet is running a modified version of the firmware that was not approved by Skycoin, so it is not possible to guarantee its correct functioning and could potentially make you lose your coins.
