Notes from the ODPi Operations PMC 9/21 meeting

Attendees: John Mertic, Sumit, Matt Foley, Tim Thorpe

1. Kerberos documentation

Sumit updated the operations spec to point to https://github.com/apache/ambari/blob/trunk/ambari-server/docs/security/kerberos/kerberos_descriptor.md

This should contain enough information for this release.

Will wait for Roman's feedback.

1b) Move the operations spec from google docs to github

2. Monitoring, alerts, widgets

Tim will try to look at alerts and widgets. Yusaku and Sumit will look at this a little bit over the next week.

3. File jiras on Ambari python scripts, stack-select/conf-select, hooks and refactoring odpi stack to install under versioned directories

All of this will be out of scope for the current operation spec.

Task ODPI-190 - Document stack-select and conf-select
Task ODPI-191 - Document stack hooks
Task ODPI-192 - ODPi service install should be refactored to install into versioned directories

3b) Sumit will start a discussion of how to deal with common services

ex. hdfs has updates in HDP/x.x stacks

4. Inheritance (stack, service, extension)

Some of this will fall out of scope for this release.

5. Versioning the wiki documentation (locked wiki or PDF)

Leaning towards a PDF. Yusaku has created a version specific wiki section for 2.4.0.

6. Test harness

We need to think about what can actually be tested.
