Pops4Tool

Introduction

The PS1 emulator for PSP (pops) is not available in neither Testing Tool nor Development Tool firmwares, meaning that both TestKits and DevKits were incapable of playing PS1 games.

Using Pops4Tool, in combination with Popsloader, you can re-enable PS1 functionality on these firmwares.

Note: it is however recommended to install and boot DC-ARK on these models, as it will allow you to boot retail 6.61 CFW from memory stick, which will in turn give you full pops compatibility.

Requirements

  • Requires latest ARK.
  • Requires PopsLoader plugin (V3 or V4i).
  • Recommended CDDA Enabler plugin.

Compatibility

The reason we use PopsLoader is because different versions of pops may or may not work with TT/DT. This is the list of pops versions to use on the different devices:

  • CEX2DEX: retail units converted to TT can use Pops for 6.00 up to 6.39 inclusive.
  • Testkits: real Testing Tool units can use Pops for 3.72 up to 4.01 inclusive.
  • Devkits: unknown.

Installation via USB Device

  • Open Advanced VSH Menu, set USB Device to Flash0 and disable USB Readonly.
  • Connect PSP to PC via USB cable.
  • Copy the kd and vsh folders from /PSP/Pops4Tool/ into the PSP's flash0.
  • Copy pstbtcnf.bin from either DT or TT folder (Devkit and Testkit respectively) into flash0's kd folder.

Installation via Full Installer

  • Copy pstbtcnf.bin from either DT or TT folder (Devkit and Testkit respectively) into kd folder of Pops4Tool.
  • Copy the kd and vsh folders from Pops4Tool into Full_Installer folder.
  • Copy the Full_Installer to /PSP/GAME/.
  • Run Full Installer and press Square button to install Pops4Tool files.
