Since IE9 doesn't support CSS transitions, the carousel items aren't sliding in/out. Bit Twitter Bootstrap is supporting the two most recent versions, I would suggest to provide a fallback for the CSS3 transitions like https://github.com/barryvdh/bootstrap/commit/8b294f0c0184eb7111ef6da6046d4d1f33ea7ba3
