This provides a known-good defconfig target for meta-riscv, the riscv64-multiplatform builder, etc.

Which kernel tree is this for? It has some options for the bcmdhd driver that I've removed for my starlight branch since the upsteam brcmfmac driver seems to work.

Compared to the starlght_defconfig I've added to my branch this adds some deprecated options:
CONFIG_SERIAL_EARLYCON_RISCV_SBI=y
CONFIG_AUTOFS4_FS=y

Some drivers for hardware that's not on the board. eg.:
CONFIG_MMC_SPI=y
CONFIG_SPI_SIFIVE=y
CONFIG_RTC_DRV_GOLDFISH=y
CONFIG_POWER_RESET_SYSCON=y

And leaves out options for reboot to work and the LED that Geert added:
CONFIG_POWER_RESET_TPS65086=y
CONFIG_LEDS_TRIGGER_HEARTBEAT=y

EDIT: Oh, sorry. I see now this is against the 5.10 tree without the cleaned up devicetree Then the bcmdhd options are fine and the two options above don't make any difference.

I already have done making arch/riscv/configs/defconfig for upstreaming here esmil/linux#6 which was originated from esmil/linux#2.

@tekkamanninja @pdp7 @geertu @esmil Should I make a PR at https://github.com/starfive-tech/linux/ for the esmil/linux#6 after the h7100-upstreaming branch is created?

Kinda seems like 5.10 is (mostly) bypassed already, so you should probably close this.

Current ebpf disassembly buffer size of 64 is too small. E.g. this line
takes 65 bytes:
01fffff8005822e: ec8100ed8065\tclgrj\t%r8,%r1,8,001fffff80058408\n\0

Double the buffer size like it is done for the kernel disassembly buffer.

Fixes the following KASAN finding:

commit 44200f2 upstream.

Debian's clang carries a patch that makes the default FPU mode
'vfp3-d16' instead of 'neon' for 'armv7-a' to avoid generating NEON
instructions on hardware that does not support them:

https://salsa.debian.org/pkg-llvm-team/llvm-toolchain/-/raw/5a61ca6f21b4ad8c6ac4970e5ea5a7b5b4486d22/debian/patches/clang-arm-default-vfp3-on-armv7a.patch
https://bugs.debian.org/841474
https://bugs.debian.org/842142
https://bugs.debian.org/914268

This results in the following build error when clang's integrated
assembler is used because the '.arch' directive overrides the '.fpu'
directive:

arch/arm/crypto/curve25519-core.S:25:2: error: instruction requires: NEON
 vmov.i32 q0, #1
 ^
arch/arm/crypto/curve25519-core.S:26:2: error: instruction requires: NEON
 vshr.u64 q1, q0, #7
 ^
arch/arm/crypto/curve25519-core.S:27:2: error: instruction requires: NEON
 vshr.u64 q0, q0, #8
 ^
arch/arm/crypto/curve25519-core.S:28:2: error: instruction requires: NEON
 vmov.i32 d4, #19
 ^

Shuffle the order of the '.arch' and '.fpu' directives so that the code
builds regardless of the default FPU mode. This has been tested against
both clang with and without Debian's patch and GCC.

When endpoint_alloc() return failed in xillyusb_setup_base_eps(),
'xdev->msg_ep' will be freed but not set to NULL. That lets program
enter fail handling to cleanup_dev() in xillyusb_probe(). Check for
'xdev->msg_ep' is invalid in cleanup_dev() because 'xdev->msg_ep' did
not set to NULL when was freed. So the UAF problem for 'xdev->msg_ep'
is triggered.

 ---[ end trace 0000000000000000 ]---

The warning complains about an attempt to unregister an
unregistered tracepoint.

This happens on trace-cmd because it first stops tracing, and
then switches the tracer to nop. Which is equivalent to:

  # cd /sys/kernel/tracing/
  # echo osnoise > current_tracer
  # echo 0 > tracing_on
  # echo nop > current_tracer

The osnoise tracer stops the workload when no trace instance
is actually collecting data. This can be caused both by
disabling tracing or disabling the tracer itself.

To avoid unregistering events twice, use the existing
trace_osnoise_callback_enabled variable to check if the events
(and the workload) are actually active before trying to
deactivate them.

The warning complains about an attempt to unregister an
unregistered tracepoint.

This happens on trace-cmd because it first stops tracing, and
then switches the tracer to nop. Which is equivalent to:

  # cd /sys/kernel/tracing/
  # echo osnoise > current_tracer
  # echo 0 > tracing_on
  # echo nop > current_tracer

The osnoise tracer stops the workload when no trace instance
is actually collecting data. This can be caused both by
disabling tracing or disabling the tracer itself.

To avoid unregistering events twice, use the existing
trace_osnoise_callback_enabled variable to check if the events
(and the workload) are actually active before trying to
deactivate them.

When setting bootparams="trace_event=initcall:initcall_start tp_printk=1" in the
cmdline, the output_printk() was called, and the spin_lock_irqsave() was called in the
atomic and irq disable interrupt context suitation. On the PREEMPT_RT kernel,
these locks are replaced with sleepable rt-spinlock, so the stack calltrace will
be triggered.
Fix it by raw_spin_lock_irqsave when PREEMPT_RT and "trace_event=initcall:initcall_start
tp_printk=1" enabled.

After commit f2d3b9a ("ARM: 9220/1: amba: Remove deferred device
addition"), it became possible for amba_read_periphid() to be invoked
concurrently from two threads for a particular AMBA device.

Consider the case where a thread (T0) is registering an AMBA driver, and
searching for all of the devices it can match with on the AMBA bus.
Suppose that another thread (T1) is executing the deferred probe work,
and is searching through all of the AMBA drivers on the bus for a driver
that matches a particular AMBA device. Assume that both threads begin
operating on the same AMBA device and the device's peripheral ID is
still unknown.

In this scenario, the amba_match() function will be invoked for the
same AMBA device by both threads, which means amba_read_periphid()
can also be invoked by both threads, and both threads will be able
to manipulate the AMBA device's pclk pointer without any synchronization.
It's possible that one thread will initialize the pclk pointer, then the
other thread will re-initialize it, overwriting the previous value, and
both will race to free the same pclk, resulting in a use-after-free for
whichever thread frees the pclk last.

Add a lock per AMBA device to synchronize the handling with detecting the
peripheral ID to avoid the use-after-free scenario.

The following KFENCE bug report helped detect this problem:

DRM commit_tails() will disable downstream crtc/encoder/bridge if
both disable crtc is required and crtc->active is set before pushing
a new frame downstream.

There is a rare case that user space display manager issue an extra
screen update immediately followed by close DRM device while down
stream display interface is disabled. This extra screen update will
timeout due to the downstream interface is disabled but will cause
crtc->active be set. Hence the followed commit_tails() called by
drm_release() will pass the disable downstream crtc/encoder/bridge
conditions checking even downstream interface is disabled.
This cause the crash to happen at dp_bridge_disable() due to it trying
to access the main link register to push the idle pattern out while main
link clocks is disabled.

This patch adds atomic_check to prevent the extra frame will not
be pushed down if display interface is down so that crtc->active
will not be set neither. This will fail the conditions checking
of disabling down stream crtc/encoder/bridge which prevent
drm_release() from calling dp_bridge_disable() so that crash
at dp_bridge_disable() prevented.

There is no protection in the DRM framework to check if the display
pipeline has been already disabled before trying again. The only
check is the crtc_state->active but this is controlled by usermode
using UAPI. Hence if the usermode sets this and then crashes, the
driver needs to protect against double disable.

In iavf_shutdown() the adapter state is changed to __IAVF_REMOVE.
In ice_shutdown() the call chain above is executed, which at some point
calls iavf_remove(). However iavf_remove() expects the VF to be in one
of the states __IAVF_RUNNING, __IAVF_DOWN or __IAVF_INIT_FAILED. If
that's not the case it sleeps forever.
So if iavf_shutdown() gets invoked before iavf_remove() the system will
hang indefinitely because the adapter is already in state __IAVF_REMOVE.

Fix this by returning from iavf_remove() if the state is __IAVF_REMOVE,
as we already went through iavf_shutdown().

When doing link mtu negotiation, a malicious peer may send Activate msg
with a very small mtu, e.g. 4 in Shuang's testing, without checking for
the minimum mtu, l->mtu will be set to 4 in tipc_link_proto_rcv(), then
n->links[bearer_id].mtu is set to 4294967228, which is a overflow of
'4 - INT_H_SIZE - EMSG_OVERHEAD' in tipc_link_mss().

With tipc_link.mtu = 4, tipc_link_xmit() kept printing the warning:

 tipc: Too large msg, purging xmit list 1 5 0 40 4!
 tipc: Too large msg, purging xmit list 1 15 0 60 4!

And with tipc_link_entry.mtu 4294967228, a huge skb was allocated in
named_distribute(), and when purging it in tipc_link_xmit(), a crash
was even caused:

…probe-ed

commit 7a29fb4 upstream.

Registering a kprobe on __rcu_irq_enter_check_tick() can cause kernel
stack overflow as shown below. This issue can be reproduced by enabling
CONFIG_NO_HZ_FULL and booting the kernel with argument "nohz_full=",
and then giving the following commands at the shell prompt:

  # cd /sys/kernel/tracing/
  # echo 'p:mp1 __rcu_irq_enter_check_tick' >> kprobe_events
  # echo 1 > events/kprobes/enable

This commit therefore adds __rcu_irq_enter_check_tick() to the kprobes
blacklist using NOKPROBE_SYMBOL().

Insufficient stack space to handle exception!

…probe-ed

commit 7a29fb4 upstream.

Registering a kprobe on __rcu_irq_enter_check_tick() can cause kernel
stack overflow as shown below. This issue can be reproduced by enabling
CONFIG_NO_HZ_FULL and booting the kernel with argument "nohz_full=",
and then giving the following commands at the shell prompt:

  # cd /sys/kernel/tracing/
  # echo 'p:mp1 __rcu_irq_enter_check_tick' >> kprobe_events
  # echo 1 > events/kprobes/enable

This commit therefore adds __rcu_irq_enter_check_tick() to the kprobes
blacklist using NOKPROBE_SYMBOL().

Fishwaldo pushed a commit to Fishwaldo/Star64_linux that referenced this pull request Jun 7, 2023
[ Upstream commit 56077b5 ]

When doing link mtu negotiation, a malicious peer may send Activate msg
with a very small mtu, e.g. 4 in Shuang's testing, without checking for
the minimum mtu, l->mtu will be set to 4 in tipc_link_proto_rcv(), then
n->links[bearer_id].mtu is set to 4294967228, which is a overflow of
'4 - INT_H_SIZE - EMSG_OVERHEAD' in tipc_link_mss().

With tipc_link.mtu = 4, tipc_link_xmit() kept printing the warning:

 tipc: Too large msg, purging xmit list 1 5 0 40 4!
 tipc: Too large msg, purging xmit list 1 15 0 60 4!

And with tipc_link_entry.mtu 4294967228, a huge skb was allocated in
named_distribute(), and when purging it in tipc_link_xmit(), a crash
was even caused:

This patch fixes it by checking the new mtu against tipc_bearer_min_mtu(),
and not updating mtu if it is too small.

After the first encap is attached, flow will be added to encap
entry's flows list. If neigh update is running at this time, the
following encaps of the flow can't hold the encap_tbl_lock and
sleep. If neigh update thread is waiting for that flow's init_done,
deadlock happens.

Fix it by holding lock outside of the for loop. If neigh update is
running, prevent encap flows from offloading. Since the lock is held
outside of the for loop, concurrent creation of encap entries is not
allowed. So remove unnecessary wait_for_completion call for res_ready.

The lock is used to synchronize different sysfs operations, it doesn't
protect any resource that will be touched by an interrupt. Consequently
it's not required to disable IRQs. Replace the spinlock with a mutex to fix
the deadlock.

The lock is used to synchronize different sysfs operations, it doesn't
protect any resource that will be touched by an interrupt. Consequently
it's not required to disable IRQs. Replace the spinlock with a mutex to fix
the deadlock.

MichaIng pushed a commit to MichaIng/linux that referenced this pull request Apr 29, 2024
[ Upstream commit 751de20 ]

For historical reasons, when bridge device is in promisc mode, packets
that are directed to the taps follow bridge input hook path. This patch
adds a workaround to reset conntrack for these packets.

Jianbo Liu reports warning splats in their test infrastructure where
cloned packets reach the br_netfilter input hook to confirm the
conntrack object.

Scratch one bit from BR_INPUT_SKB_CB to annotate that this packet has
reached the input hook because it is passed up to the bridge device to
reach the taps.

vhost_worker will call tun call backs to receive packets. If too many
illegal packets arrives, tun_do_read will keep dumping packet contents.
When console is enabled, it will costs much more cpu time to dump
packet and soft lockup will be detected.

net_ratelimit mechanism can be used to limit the dumping rate.

When console is enabled, it will costs much more cpu time to dump
packet and soft lockup will be detected.

net_ratelimit mechanism can be used to limit the dumping rate.

ui_browser__show() is capturing the input title that is stack allocated
memory in hist_browser__run().

Avoid a use after return by strdup-ing the string.

Committer notes:

Further explanation from Ian Rogers:

My command line using tui is:
$ sudo bash -c 'rm /tmp/asan.log*; export
ASAN_OPTIONS="log_path=/tmp/asan.log"; /tmp/perf/perf mem record -a
sleep 1; /tmp/perf/perf mem report'
I then go to the perf annotate view and quit. This triggers the asan
error (from the log file):

hist_browser__run isn't on the stack so the asan error looks legit.
There's no clean init/exit on struct ui_browser so I may be trading a
use-after-return for a memory leak, but that seems look a good trade
anyway.

use-after-return for a memory leak, but that seems look a good trade
anyway.

MichaIng pushed a commit to MichaIng/linux that referenced this pull request Jul 5, 2024
commit be346c1 upstream.

The code in ocfs2_dio_end_io_write() estimates number of necessary
transaction credits using ocfs2_calc_extend_credits(). This however does
not take into account that the IO could be arbitrarily large and can
contain arbitrary number of extents.

Extent tree manipulations do often extend the current transaction but not
in all of the cases. For example if we have only single block extents in
the tree, ocfs2_mark_extent_written() will end up calling
ocfs2_replace_extent_rec() all the time and we will never extend the
current transaction and eventually exhaust all the transaction credits if
the IO contains many single block extents. Once that happens a
WARN_ON(jbd2_handle_buffer_credits(handle) <= 0) is triggered in
jbd2_journal_dirty_metadata() and subsequently OCFS2 aborts in response to
this error. This was actually triggered by one of our customers on a
heavily fragmented OCFS2 filesystem.

To fix the issue make sure the transaction always has enough credits for
one extent insert before each call of ocfs2_mark_extent_written().
