The motivation behind this new interface is expose at runtime the creation of new OA configs which can be used as part of the i915 perf open interface. This will enable the kernel to learn new configs which may be experimental, or otherwise not part of the core set currently available through the i915 perf interface. Fix by checking before using. Committer note: This doesn't take place in a kernel that supports perf_event_attr.context_switch, that is the default way that will be used for tracking context switches, only in older kernels, like 4.2, in a machine with Intel PT (e.g. Broadwell) for non-priviledged users. Further info from a similar patch by Wang: The error is in tracepoint_error: it assumes the 'e' parameter is valid. However, there are many situation a parse_event() can be called without parse_events_error. Yuval Mintz says: ==================== qed: Fixes series This address several different issues in qed. The more significant portions: Patch #1 would cause timeout when qedr utilizes the highest CIDs availble for it [or when future qede adapters would utilize queues in some constellations]. Patch #4 fixes a leak of mapped addresses; When iommu is enabled, offloaded storage protocols might eventually run out of resources and fail to map additional buffers. Patches #6,#7 were missing in the initial iSCSI infrastructure submissions, and would hamper qedi's stability when it reaches out-of-order scenarios. ==================== Signed-off-by: David S. Dmitry reported a lockdep splat [1] (false positive) that we can fix by releasing the spinlock before calling icmp_send() from ip_expire() This is a false positive because sending an ICMP message can not possibly re-enter the IP frag engine. mipsxx_pmu_handle_shared_irq() calls irq_work_run() while holding the pmuint_rwlock for read. irq_work_run() can, via perf_pending_event(), call try_to_wake_up() which can try to take rq->lock. However, perf can also call perf_pmu_enable() (and thus take the pmuint_rwlock for write) while holding the rq->lock, from finish_task_switch() via perf_event_context_sched_in(). This leads to an ABBA deadlock: PID: 3855 TASK: 8f7ce288 CPU: 2 COMMAND: "process" #0 [89c39ac8] __delay at 803b5be4 rib#1 [89c39ac8] do_raw_spin_lock at 8008fdcc rib#2 [89c39af8] try_to_wake_up at 8006e47c rib#3 [89c39b38] pollwake at 8018eab0 rib#4 [89c39b68] __wake_up_common at 800879f4 rib#5 [89c39b98] __wake_up at 800880e4 rib#6 [89c39bc8] perf_event_wakeup at 8012109c rib#7 [89c39be8] perf_pending_event at 80121184 rib#8 [89c39c08] irq_work_run_list at 801151f0 rib#9 [89c39c38] irq_work_run at 80115274 rib#10 [89c39c50] mipsxx_pmu_handle_shared_irq at 8002cc7c PID: 1481 TASK: 8eaac6a8 CPU: 3 COMMAND: "process" #0 [8de7f900] do_raw_write_lock at 800900e0 rib#1 [8de7f918] perf_event_context_sched_in at 80122310 rib#2 [8de7f938] __perf_event_task_sched_in at 80122608 rib#3 [8de7f958] finish_task_switch at 8006b8a4 rib#4 [8de7f998] __schedule at 805e4dc4 rib#5 [8de7f9f8] schedule at 805e5558 rib#6 [8de7fa10] schedule_hrtimeout_range_clock at 805e9984 rib#7 [8de7fa70] poll_schedule_timeout at 8018e8f8 rib#8 [8de7fa88] do_select at 8018f338 rib#9 [8de7fd88] core_sys_select at 8018f5cc rib#10 [8de7fee0] sys_select at 8018f854 rib#11 [8de7ff28] syscall_common at 80028fc8 The lock seems to be there to protect the hardware counters so there is no need to hold it across irq_work_run(). Actually external_intr variable in nested_vmx_vmexit() is the req_int_win variable passed from vcpu_enter_guest() which means that the L0's userspace requests an irq window. I observed the scenario (!kvm_cpu_has_interrupt(vcpu) && L0's userspace reqeusts an irq window) is true, so there is no interrupt which L1 requires to inject to L2, we should not attempt to emualte "Acknowledge interrupt on exit" for the irq window requirement in this scenario. This patch fixes it by not attempt to emulate "Acknowledge interrupt on exit" if there is no L1 requirement to inject an interrupt to L2. We should do a userspace exit with open interrupt window instead of the nested VM exit. This patch still improves the behavior, so it was accepted as a (temporary) workaround.] Signed-off-by: Radim Krčmář <[email protected]>

Thomas reported that 'perf buildid-list' gets a SEGFAULT due to NULL pointer deref when he ran it on a data with namespace events. It was because the buildid_id__mark_dso_hit_ops lacks the namespace event handler and perf_too__fill_default() didn't set it. syzkaller reported a NULL pointer dereference in asn1_ber_decoder(). It can be reproduced by the following command, assuming CONFIG_PKCS7_TEST_KEY=y: keyctl add pkcs7_test desc '' @s The bug is that if the data buffer is empty, an integer underflow occurs in the following check: if (unlikely(dp >= datalen - 1)) goto data_overrun_error; This results in the NULL data pointer being dereferenced. Fix it by checking for 'datalen - dp < 2' instead. Also fix the similar check for 'dp >= datalen - n' later in the same function. That one possibly could result in a buffer overread. The NULL pointer dereference was reproducible using the "pkcs7_test" key type but not the "asymmetric" key type because the "asymmetric" key type checks for a 0-length payload before calling into the ASN.1 decoder but the "pkcs7_test" key type does not. The bug report was: BUG: unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference at (null) IP: asn1_ber_decoder+0x17f/0xe60 lib/asn1_decoder.c:233 PGD 7b708067 P4D 7b708067 PUD 7b6ee067 PMD 0 Oops: 0000 [rib#1] SMP Modules linked in: CPU: 0 PID: 522 Comm: syz-executor1 Not tainted 4.14.0-rc8 rib#7 Hardware name: QEMU Standard PC (i440FX + PIIX, 1996), BIOS 1.10.3-20171021_125229-anatol 04/01/2014 task: ffff9b6b3798c040 task.stack: ffff9b6b37970000 RIP: 0010:asn1_ber_decoder+0x17f/0xe60 lib/asn1_decoder.c:233 RSP: 0018:ffff9b6b37973c78 EFLAGS: 00010216 RAX: 0000000000000000 RBX: 0000000000000000 RCX: 000000000000021c RDX: ffffffff814a04ed RSI: ffffb1524066e000 RDI: ffffffff910759e0 RBP: ffff9b6b37973d60 R08: 0000000000000001 R09: ffff9b6b3caa4180 R10: 0000000000000000 R11: 0000000000000000 R12: 0000000000000002 R13: 0000000000000000 R14: 0000000000000000 R15: 0000000000000000 FS: 00007f10ed1f2700(0000) GS:ffff9b6b3ea00000(0000) knlGS:0000000000000000 CS: 0010 DS: 0000 ES: 0000 CR0: 0000000080050033 CR2: 0000000000000000 CR3: 000000007b6f3000 CR4: 00000000000006f0 Call Trace: pkcs7_parse_message+0xee/0x240 crypto/asymmetric_keys/pkcs7_parser.c:139 verify_pkcs7_signature+0x33/0x180 certs/system_keyring.c:216 pkcs7_preparse+0x41/0x70 crypto/asymmetric_keys/pkcs7_key_type.c:63 key_create_or_update+0x180/0x530 security/keys/key.c:855 SYSC_add_key security/keys/keyctl.c:122 [inline] SyS_add_key+0xbf/0x250 security/keys/keyctl.c:62 entry_SYSCALL_64_fastpath+0x1f/0xbe RIP: 0033:0x4585c9 RSP: 002b:00007f10ed1f1bd8 EFLAGS: 00000216 ORIG_RAX: 00000000000000f8 RAX: ffffffffffffffda RBX: 00007f10ed1f2700 RCX: 00000000004585c9 RDX: 0000000020000000 RSI: 0000000020008ffb RDI: 0000000020008000 RBP: 0000000000000000 R08: ffffffffffffffff R09: 0000000000000000 R10: 0000000000000000 R11: 0000000000000216 R12: 00007fff1b2260ae R13: 00007fff1b2260af R14: 00007f10ed1f2700 R15: 0000000000000000 Code: dd ca ff 48 8b 45 88 48 83 e8 01 4c 39 f0 0f 86 a8 07 00 00 e8 53 dd ca ff 49 8d 46 01 48 89 85 58 ff ff ff 48 8b 85 60 ff ff ff <42> 0f b6 0c 30 89 c8 88 8d 75 ff ff ff 83 e0 1f 89 8d 28 ff ff RIP: asn1_ber_decoder+0x17f/0xe60 lib/asn1_decoder.c:233 RSP: ffff9b6b37973c78 CR2: 0000000000000000 Fixes: 42d5ec2 ("X.509: Add an ASN.1 decoder") Reported-by: syzbot <[email protected]> Cc: <[email protected]> # v3.7+ Signed-off-by: Eric Biggers <[email protected]> Signed-off-by: David Howells <[email protected]> Signed-off-by: James Morris <[email protected]>

Commit 24c2503 ("x86/microcode: Do not access the initrd after it has been freed") fixed attempts to access initrd from the microcode loader after it has been freed. It was reported by Sergey Senozhatsky that if THP (Transparent Huge Page) and frontswap (via zswap) are both enabled, when memory goes low so that swap is triggered, segfault and memory corruption will occur in random user space applications as follow, kernel: urxvt[338]: segfault at 20 ip 00007fc08889ae0d sp 00007ffc73a7fc40 error 6 in libc-2.26.so[7fc08881a000+1ae000] #0 0x00007fc08889ae0d _int_malloc (libc.so.6) rib#1 0x00007fc08889c2f3 malloc (libc.so.6) rib#2 0x0000560e6004bff7 _Z14rxvt_wcstoutf8PKwi (urxvt) rib#3 0x0000560e6005e75c n/a (urxvt) rib#4 0x0000560e6007d9f1 _ZN16rxvt_perl_interp6invokeEP9rxvt_term9hook_typez (urxvt) rib#5 0x0000560e6003d988 _ZN9rxvt_term9cmd_parseEv (urxvt) rib#6 0x0000560e60042804 _ZN9rxvt_term6pty_cbERN2ev2ioEi (urxvt) rib#7 0x0000560e6005c10f _Z17ev_invoke_pendingv (urxvt) rib#8 0x0000560e6005cb55 ev_run (urxvt) rib#9 0x0000560e6003b9b9 main (urxvt) rib#10 0x00007fc08883af4a __libc_start_main (libc.so.6) rib#11 0x0000560e6003f9da _start (urxvt) After bisection, it was found the first bad commit is bd4c82c ("mm, THP, swap: delay splitting THP after swapped out"). The root cause is as follows: When the pages are written to swap device during swapping out in swap_writepage(), zswap (fontswap) is tried to compress the pages to improve performance. But zswap (frontswap) will treat THP as a normal page, so only the head page is saved. After swapping in, tail pages will not be restored to their original contents, causing memory corruption in the applications. This is fixed by refusing to save page in the frontswap store functions if the page is a THP. So that the THP will be swapped out to swap device. Another choice is to split THP if frontswap is enabled. But it is found that the frontswap enabling isn't flexible. For example, if CONFIG_ZSWAP=y (cannot be module), frontswap will be enabled even if zswap itself isn't enabled. Frontswap has multiple backends, to make it easy for one backend to enable THP support, the THP checking is put in backend frontswap store functions instead of the general interfaces. Although we protect the request itself, we don't lock inside intel_engine_dump() and so the request maybe retired as we peek into it. One consequence is that the request->ctx may be freed before we dereference it, leading to a use-after-free. Replace the hw_id we are peeking from inside request->ctx with the request->fence.context, with which we can still track from which context the request originated (although to tie to HW reports requires a little more legwork, but is good enough to follow the GEM traces). Commit 24b6d41 "mm: pass the vmem_altmap to vmemmap_free" converted the vmemmap_free() path to pass the altmap argument all the way through the call chain rather than looking it up based on the page. Unfortunately that ends up over freeing altmap allocated pages in some cases since free_pagetable() is used to free both memmap space and pte space, where only the memmap stored in huge pages uses altmap allocations. Given that altmap allocations for memmap space are special cased in vmemmap_populate_hugepages() add a symmetric / special case free_hugepage_table() to handle altmap freeing, and cleanup the unneeded passing of altmap to leaf functions that do not require it. Without this change the sanity check accounting in devm_memremap_pages_release() will throw a warning with the following signature. nd_pmem pfn10.1: devm_memremap_pages_release: failed to free all reserved pages WARNING: CPU: 44 PID: 3539 at kernel/memremap.c:310 devm_memremap_pages_release+0x1c7/0x220 CPU: 44 PID: 3539 Comm: ndctl Tainted: G L 4.16.0-rc1-linux-stable rib#7 RIP: 0010:devm_memremap_pages_release+0x1c7/0x220 [..] Call Trace: release_nodes+0x225/0x270 device_release_driver_internal+0x15d/0x210 bus_remove_device+0xe2/0x160 device_del+0x130/0x310 ? klist_release+0x56/0x100 ? nd_region_notify+0xc0/0xc0 [libnvdimm] device_unregister+0x16/0x60 This was missed in testing since not all configurations will trigger this warning. Petr Machata says: ==================== net: ip6_gre: Fixes in headroom handling This series mends some problems in headroom management in ip6_gre module. The current code base has the following three closely-related problems: - ip6gretap tunnels neglect to ensure there's enough writable headroom before pushing GRE headers. - ip6erspan does this, but assumes that dev->needed_headroom is primed. But that doesn't happen until ip6_tnl_xmit() is called later. Thus for the first packet, ip6erspan actually behaves like ip6gretap above. - ip6erspan shares some of the code with ip6gretap, including calculations of needed header length. While there is custom ERSPAN-specific code for calculating the headroom, the computed values are overwritten by the ip6gretap code. The first two issues lead to a kernel panic in situations where a packet is mirrored from a veth device to the device in question. They are fixed, respectively, in patches rib#1 and rib#2, which include the full panic trace and a reproducer. The rest of the patchset deals with the last issue. In patches rib#3 to rib#6, several functions are split up into reusable parts. Finally in patch rib#7 these blocks are used to compose ERSPAN-specific callbacks where necessary to fix the hlen calculation. ==================== Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <[email protected]>

Additionally, I also had BPF hardening enabled which requires once more rewrites of all constant values in order to blind them. Each time we rewrite insns, bpf_adj_branches() would need to potentially adjust branch targets which cross the patchlet boundary to accommodate for the additional delta. Eventually that lead to the case where the target offset could not fit into insn->off's upper 0x7fff limit anymore where then offset wraps around becoming negative (in s16 universe), or vice versa depending on the jump direction. Therefore it becomes necessary to detect and reject any such occasions in a generic way for native eBPF and cBPF to eBPF migrations. For the latter we can simply check bounds in the bpf_convert_filter()'s BPF_EMIT_JMP helper macro and bail out once we surpass limits. The bpf_patch_insn_single() for native eBPF (and cBPF to eBPF in case of subsequent hardening) is a bit more complex in that we need to detect such truncations before hitting the bpf_prog_realloc(). Thus the latter is split into an extra pass to probe problematic offsets on the original program in order to fail early. With that in place and carefully tested I no longer hit the panic and the rewrites are rejected properly. The above example panic I've seen on bpf-next, though the issue itself is generic in that a guard against this issue in bpf seems more appropriate in this case. The nft_set_gc_batch_check() checks whether gc buffer is full. If gc buffer is full, gc buffer is released by the nft_set_gc_batch_complete() internally. In case of rbtree, the rb_erase() should be called before calling the nft_set_gc_batch_complete(). therefore the rb_erase() should be called before calling the nft_set_gc_batch_check() too. test commands: table ip filter { set set1 { type ipv4_addr; flags interval, timeout; gc-interval 10s; timeout 1s; elements = { 1-2, 3-4, 5-6, ... 10000-10001, } } } %nft -f test.nft splat looks like: [ 430.273885] kasan: GPF could be caused by NULL-ptr deref or user memory access [ 430.282158] general protection fault: 0000 [rib#1] SMP DEBUG_PAGEALLOC KASAN PTI [ 430.283116] CPU: 1 PID: 190 Comm: kworker/1:2 Tainted: G B 4.18.0+ rib#7 [ 430.283116] Workqueue: events_power_efficient nft_rbtree_gc [nf_tables_set] [ 430.313559] RIP: 0010:rb_next+0x81/0x130 [ 430.313559] Code: 08 49 bd 00 00 00 00 00 fc ff df 48 bb 00 00 00 00 00 fc ff df 48 85 c0 75 05 eb 58 48 89 d4 [ 430.313559] RSP: 0018:ffff88010cdb7680 EFLAGS: 00010207 [ 430.313559] RAX: 0000000000b84854 RBX: dffffc0000000000 RCX: ffffffff83f01973 [ 430.313559] RDX: 000000000017090c RSI: 0000000000000008 RDI: 0000000000b84864 [ 430.313559] RBP: ffff8801060d4588 R08: fffffbfff09bc349 R09: fffffbfff09bc349 [ 430.313559] R10: 0000000000000001 R11: fffffbfff09bc348 R12: ffff880100f081a8 [ 430.313559] R13: dffffc0000000000 R14: ffff880100ff8688 R15: dffffc0000000000 [ 430.313559] FS: 0000000000000000(0000) GS:ffff88011b400000(0000) knlGS:0000000000000000 [ 430.313559] CS: 0010 DS: 0000 ES: 0000 CR0: 0000000080050033 [ 430.313559] CR2: 0000000001551008 CR3: 000000005dc16000 CR4: 00000000001006e0 [ 430.313559] Call Trace: [ 430.313559] nft_rbtree_gc+0x112/0x5c0 [nf_tables_set] [ 430.313559] process_one_work+0xc13/0x1ec0 [ 430.313559] ? _raw_spin_unlock_irq+0x29/0x40 [ 430.313559] ? pwq_dec_nr_in_flight+0x3c0/0x3c0 [ 430.313559] ? set_load_weight+0x270/0x270 [ 430.313559] ? __switch_to_asm+0x34/0x70 [ 430.313559] ? __switch_to_asm+0x40/0x70 [ 430.313559] ? __switch_to_asm+0x34/0x70 [ 430.313559] ? __switch_to_asm+0x34/0x70 [ 430.313559] ? __switch_to_asm+0x40/0x70 [ 430.313559] ? __switch_to_asm+0x34/0x70 [ 430.313559] ? __switch_to_asm+0x40/0x70 [ 430.313559] ? __switch_to_asm+0x34/0x70 [ 430.313559] ? __switch_to_asm+0x34/0x70 [ 430.313559] ? __switch_to_asm+0x40/0x70 [ 430.313559] ? __switch_to_asm+0x34/0x70 [ 430.313559] ? __schedule+0x6d3/0x1f50 [ 430.313559] ? find_held_lock+0x39/0x1c0 [ 430.313559] ? __sched_text_start+0x8/0x8 [ 430.313559] ? cyc2ns_read_end+0x10/0x10 [ 430.313559] ? save_trace+0x300/0x300 [ 430.313559] ? sched_clock_local+0xd4/0x140 [ 430.313559] ? find_held_lock+0x39/0x1c0 [ 430.313559] ? worker_thread+0x353/0x1120 [ 430.313559] ? worker_thread+0x353/0x1120 [ 430.313559] ? lock_contended+0xe70/0xe70 [ 430.313559] ? __lock_acquire+0x4500/0x4500 [ 430.535635] ? do_raw_spin_unlock+0xa5/0x330 [ 430.535635] ? do_raw_spin_trylock+0x101/0x1a0 [ 430.535635] ? do_raw_spin_lock+0x1f0/0x1f0 [ 430.535635] ? _raw_spin_lock_irq+0x10/0x70 [ 430.535635] worker_thread+0x15d/0x1120 [ ... ] Fixes: 8d8540c ("netfilter: nft_set_rbtree: add timeout support") Signed-off-by: Taehee Yoo <[email protected]> Signed-off-by: Pablo Neira Ayuso <[email protected]>

It was observed that a process blocked indefintely in __fscache_read_or_alloc_page(), waiting for FSCACHE_COOKIE_LOOKING_UP to be cleared via fscache_wait_for_deferred_lookup(). At this time, ->backing_objects was empty, which would normaly prevent __fscache_read_or_alloc_page() from getting to the point of waiting. This implies that ->backing_objects was cleared *after* __fscache_read_or_alloc_page was was entered. When an object is "killed" and then "dropped", FSCACHE_COOKIE_LOOKING_UP is cleared in fscache_lookup_failure(), then KILL_OBJECT and DROP_OBJECT are "called" and only in DROP_OBJECT is ->backing_objects cleared. This leaves a window where something else can set FSCACHE_COOKIE_LOOKING_UP and __fscache_read_or_alloc_page() can start waiting, before ->backing_objects is cleared There is some uncertainty in this analysis, but it seems to be fit the observations. Adding the wake in this patch will be handled correctly by __fscache_read_or_alloc_page(), as it checks if ->backing_objects is empty again, after waiting. Customer which reported the hang, also report that the hang cannot be reproduced with this fix. The backtrace for the blocked process looked like: PID: 29360 TASK: ffff881ff2ac0f80 CPU: 3 COMMAND: "zsh" #0 [ffff881ff43efbf8] schedule at ffffffff815e56f1 rib#1 [ffff881ff43efc58] bit_wait at ffffffff815e64ed rib#2 [ffff881ff43efc68] __wait_on_bit at ffffffff815e61b8 rib#3 [ffff881ff43efca0] out_of_line_wait_on_bit at ffffffff815e625e rib#4 [ffff881ff43efd08] fscache_wait_for_deferred_lookup at ffffffffa04f2e8f [fscache] rib#5 [ffff881ff43efd18] __fscache_read_or_alloc_page at ffffffffa04f2ffe [fscache] rib#6 [ffff881ff43efd58] __nfs_readpage_from_fscache at ffffffffa0679668 [nfs] rib#7 [ffff881ff43efd78] nfs_readpage at ffffffffa067092b [nfs] rib#8 [ffff881ff43efda0] generic_file_read_iter at ffffffff81187a73 rib#9 [ffff881ff43efe50] nfs_file_read at ffffffffa066544b [nfs] rib#10 [ffff881ff43efe70] __vfs_read at ffffffff811fc756 rib#11 [ffff881ff43efee8] vfs_read at ffffffff811fccfa rib#12 [ffff881ff43eff18] sys_read at ffffffff811fda62 rib#13 [ffff881ff43eff50] entry_SYSCALL_64_fastpath at ffffffff815e986e Signed-off-by: NeilBrown <[email protected]> Signed-off-by: David Howells <[email protected]>

The *_frag_reasm() functions are susceptible to miscalculating the byte count of packet fragments in case the truesize of a head buffer changes. The truesize member may be changed by the call to skb_unclone(), leaving the fragment memory limit counter unbalanced even if all fragments are processed. This miscalculation goes unnoticed as long as the network namespace which holds the counter is not destroyed. Should an attempt be made to destroy a network namespace that holds an unbalanced fragment memory limit counter the cleanup of the namespace never finishes. The thread handling the cleanup gets stuck in inet_frags_exit_net() waiting for the percpu counter to reach zero. The thread is usually in running state with a stacktrace similar to: PID: 1073 TASK: ffff880626711440 CPU: 1 COMMAND: "kworker/u48:4" rib#5 [ffff880621563d48] _raw_spin_lock at ffffffff815f5480 rib#6 [ffff880621563d48] inet_evict_bucket at ffffffff8158020b rib#7 [ffff880621563d80] inet_frags_exit_net at ffffffff8158051c rib#8 [ffff880621563db0] ops_exit_list at ffffffff814f5856 rib#9 [ffff880621563dd8] cleanup_net at ffffffff814f67c0 rib#10 [ffff880621563e38] process_one_work at ffffffff81096f14 It is not possible to create new network namespaces, and processes that call unshare() end up being stuck in uninterruptible sleep state waiting to acquire the net_mutex. Ido Schimmel says: ==================== mlxsw: Various fixes This patchset contains small fixes in mlxsw and one fix in the bridge driver. Patches rib#1-rib#4 perform small adjustments in PCI and FID code following recent tests that were performed on the Spectrum-2 ASIC. Patch rib#5 fixes the bridge driver to mark FDB entries that were added by user as such. Otherwise, these entries will be ignored by underlying switch drivers. Patch rib#6 fixes a long standing issue in mlxsw where the driver incorrectly programmed static FDB entries as both static and sticky. Patches rib#7-rib#8 add test cases for above mentioned bugs. Please consider patches rib#1, rib#2 and rib#4 for stable. ==================== Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <[email protected]>

Ido Schimmel says: ==================== mlxsw: Various fixes This patchset contains various small fixes for mlxsw. Patch rib#1 fixes a warning generated by switchdev core when the driver fails to insert an MDB entry in the commit phase. Patches rib#2-rib#4 fix a warning in check_flush_dependency() that can be triggered when a work item in a WQ_MEM_RECLAIM workqueue tries to flush a non-WQ_MEM_RECLAIM workqueue. It seems that the semantics of the WQ_MEM_RECLAIM flag are not very clear [1] and that various patches have been sent to remove it from various workqueues throughout the kernel [2][3][4] in order to silence the warning. These patches do the same for the workqueues created by mlxsw that probably should not have been created with this flag in the first place. Patch rib#5 fixes a regression where an IP address cannot be assigned to a VRF upper due to erroneous MAC validation check. Patch rib#6 adds a test case. Patch rib#7 adjusts Spectrum-2 shared buffer configuration to be compatible with Spectrum-1. The problem and fix are described in detail in the commit message. Please consider patches rib#1-rib#5 for 5.0.y. I verified they apply cleanly. … allocation After memory allocation failure vc_allocate() doesn't clean up data which has been initialized in visual_init(). In case of fbcon this leads to divide-by-0 in fbcon_init() on next open of the same tty. memory allocation in vc_allocate() may fail here: 1097: vc->vc_screenbuf = kzalloc(vc->vc_screenbuf_size, GFP_KERNEL); on next open() fbcon_init() skips vc_font.data initialization: 1088: if (!p->fontdata) { division by zero in fbcon_init() happens here: 1149: new_cols /= vc->vc_font.width; Additional check is needed in fbcon_deinit() to prevent usage of uninitialized vc_screenbuf: 1251: if (vc->vc_hi_font_mask && vc->vc_screenbuf) 1252: set_vc_hi_font(vc, false); Crash: rib#6 [ffffc90001eafa60] divide_error at ffffffff81a00be4 [exception RIP: fbcon_init+463] RIP: ffffffff814b860f RSP: ffffc90001eafb18 RFLAGS: 00010246 ... rib#7 [ffffc90001eafb60] visual_init at ffffffff8154c36e rib#8 [ffffc90001eafb80] vc_allocate at ffffffff8154f53c rib#9 [ffffc90001eafbc8] con_install at ffffffff8154f624 ... Ido Schimmel says: ==================== mlxsw: Various fixes This patchset contains various fixes for mlxsw. Patch rib#1 fixes an hash polarization problem when a nexthop device is a LAG device. This is caused by the fact that the same seed is used for the LAG and ECMP hash functions. Patch rib#2 fixes an issue in which the driver fails to refresh a nexthop neighbour after it becomes dead. This prevents the nexthop from ever being written to the adjacency table and used to forward traffic. Patch Patch rib#4 fixes a wrong extraction of TOS value in flower offload code. Patch rib#5 is a test case. Patch rib#6 works around a buffer issue in Spectrum-2 by reducing the default sizes of the shared buffer pools. Patch rib#7 prevents prio-tagged packets from entering the switch when PVID is removed from the bridge port. Please consider patches rib#2, rib#4 and rib#6 for 5.1.y ==================== Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <[email protected]>

Do not allow to write timestamps on RX rings if PF is being configured. When PF is being configured RX rings can be freed or rebuilt. If at the same time timestamps are updated, the kernel will crash by dereferencing null RX ring pointer.
