This branch fixes compatibility with many cards, and also improves read/write performance, in most cases 4-5x. Many cards that did not work reliably before work much better with those changes. As already discussed in length at http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=63&t=5057.

I know bootc's 3.2 kernel is going to become the Pi mainline soon-ish, but in the meantime I think it's still useful to have this in 3.1.

Here is Essential conditions to indicate Version 3.00 Card
(SD_SPEC=2 and SD_SPEC3=1) :
(1) The card shall support CMD6
(2) The card shall support CMD8
(3) The card shall support CMD42
(4) User area capacity shall be up to 2GB (SDSC) or 32GB (SDHC)
User area capacity shall be more than or equal to 32GB and
    up to 2TB (SDXC)
(5) Speed Class shall be supported (SDHC or SDXC)

So even if SD card doesn't support any of the newly defined
UHS-I bus speed mode, it can advertise itself as SD3.0 cards
as long as it supports all the essential conditions of
SD3.0 cards. Given this, these type of cards should atleast
run in High Speed mode @50MHz if it supports HS.

But current initialization sequence for SD3.0 cards is
such that these non-UHS-I SD3.0 cards runs in Default
Speed mode @25mhz.

This patch makes sure that these non-UHS-I SD3.0 cards run
in High Speed Mode @50MHz.

Tested this patch with SanDisk Extreme SDHC 8GB Class 10 card.

mmc: use really long write timeout to deal with crappy cards

Several people have noticed that crappy SD cards take much longer to
complete multiple block writes than the 300ms that Linux specifies.
Try to work around this by using a three second write timeout instead.

This is a generalized version of a patch from Chase Maupin
<[email protected]>, whose patch description said:

* With certain SD cards timeouts like the following have been seen
due to an improper calculation of the dto value:
    mmcblk0: error -110 transferring data, sector 4126233, nr 8,
    card status 0xc00
* By removing the dto calculation and setting the timeout value
to the maximum specified by the SD card specification part A2
section 2.2.15 these timeouts can be avoided.
* This change has been used by beagleboard users as well as the
Texas Instruments SDK without a negative impact.
* There are multiple discussion threads about this but the most
  relevant ones are:
    * http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?p=1000707#post1000707
    * http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/msg42213.html
* Original proposal for this fix was done by Sukumar Ghoral of
  Texas Instruments
* Tested using a Texas Instruments AM335x EVM

Earlier all cards where initiated with bus mode set as OPENDRAIN, and then
later switched to PUSHPULL. According to the MMC/SD/SDIO specifications
only MMC cards use OPENDRAIN during init. For both SD and SDIO the bus
mode shall be PUSHPULL before attempting to init the card.

The consequence of having incorrect bus mode can lead to not being able
to detect the card. Therefore the default behavior have now been changed
to PUSHPULL in mmc_power_up, and will only be temporarily switched when
trying to attach or init a MMC card.

Adds a quirk that sets the data read timeout to a fixed value instead
of relying on the information in the CSD. The timeout value chosen
is 300ms since that has proven enough for the problematic cards found,
but could be increased if other cards require this.

This patch also enables this quirk for certain Micron cards known to
have this problem.

Experiments show that it doesn't really take that long to sync, so we
can reduce the poll interval slightly. Might improve performance a bit.
The custom clock handling code is redundant and buggy. The MMC/SDHCI
subsystem does a better job than it, so remove it for good.
Some additional quirks are needed for correct operation.
There's no SDHCI capabilities register documented, and it always reads
zero, so add SDHCI_QUIRK_MISSING_CAPS. Apparently
SDHCI_QUIRK_NO_HISPD_BIT is needed for many cards to work correctly in
high-speed mode, so add it as well.
Add a parameter to disable high-speed mode for the few cards that
still might have problems. High-speed mode is enabled by default.
80 MHz clock isnt't suited well to be dividable to get SD clocks of 25
MHz (default mode) or 50 MHz (high speed mode). 50 MHz are perfect to
drive the SD interface at ideal frequencies.

Thanks. I'll accept this request for wider testing, and push firmware with 50MHz as the default emmc clock.

hugetlb_reserve_pages() can be used for either normal file-backed
hugetlbfs mappings, or MAP_HUGETLB. In the MAP_HUGETLB, semi-anonymous
mode, there is not a VMA around. The new call to resv_map_put() assumed
that there was, and resulted in a NULL pointer dereference:

Interrupts cannot be requested/freed in the CPU_STARTING/CPU_DYING
notifications which run on the hotplugged cpu with interrupts and
preemption disabled.

To avoid the issue, request the interrupts for all possible cpus in
the boot code. The interrupts are marked NO_AUTOENABLE to avoid a racy
request_irq/disable_irq() sequence. The flag prevents the
request_irq() code from enabling the interrupt immediately.

The interrupt is then enabled in the CPU_STARTING notifier of the
hotplugged cpu and again disabled with disable_irq_nosync() in the
CPU_DYING notifier.

Dave Chinner has properly pointed out that this is a deadlock in the
reclaim code because ext4 doesn't submit pages which are marked by
PG_writeback right away.

The heuristic was introduced by commit e62e384 ("memcg: prevent OOM
with too many dirty pages") and it was applied only when may_enter_fs
was specified. The code has been changed by c3b94f4 ("memcg:
further prevent OOM with too many dirty pages") which has removed the
__GFP_FS restriction with a reasoning that we do not get into the fs
code. But this is not sufficient apparently because the fs doesn't
necessarily submit pages marked PG_writeback for IO right away.

ext4_bio_write_page calls io_submit_add_bh but that doesn't necessarily
submit the bio. Instead it tries to map more pages into the bio and
mpage_map_one_extent might trigger memcg charge which might end up
waiting on a page which is marked PG_writeback but hasn't been submitted
yet so we would end up waiting for something that never finishes.

Fix this issue by replacing __GFP_IO by may_enter_fs check (for case 2)
before we go to wait on the writeback. The page fault path, which is
the only path that triggers memcg oom killer since 3.12, shouldn't
require GFP_NOFS and so we shouldn't reintroduce the premature OOM
killer issue which was originally addressed by the heuristic.

As per David Chinner the xfs is doing similar thing since 2.6.15 already
so ext4 is not the only affected filesystem. Moreover he notes:

: For example: IO completion might require unwritten extent conversion
: which executes filesystem transactions and GFP_NOFS allocations. The
: writeback flag on the pages can not be cleared until unwritten
: extent conversion completes. Hence memory reclaim cannot wait on
: page writeback to complete in GFP_NOFS context because it is not
: safe to do so, memcg reclaim or otherwise.

commit a6da002 upstream.

We need to ensure that tracepoints are registered and unregistered
with the users of them. The existing atomic count isn't enough for
that. Add a lock around the tracepoints, so we serialize access
to them.

This fixes cases where we have multiple users setting up and
tearing down tracepoints, like this:

l2tp_tunnel_get walks the tunnel list to find a matching tunnel
instance and if a match is found, its refcount is increased before
returning the tunnel pointer. But when tunnel objects are destroyed,
they are on the tunnel list after their refcount hits zero. Fix this
by moving the code that removes the tunnel from the tunnel list from
the tunnel socket destructor into in the l2tp_tunnel_delete path,
before the tunnel refcount is decremented.

l2tp_tunnel_get walks the tunnel list to find a matching tunnel
instance and if a match is found, its refcount is increased before
returning the tunnel pointer. But when tunnel objects are destroyed,
they are on the tunnel list after their refcount hits zero. Fix this
by moving the code that removes the tunnel from the tunnel list from
the tunnel socket destructor into in the l2tp_tunnel_delete path,
before the tunnel refcount is decremented.

refcount_t: increment on 0; use-after-free.

commit a6da002 upstream.

We need to ensure that tracepoints are registered and unregistered
with the users of them. The existing atomic count isn't enough for
that. Add a lock around the tracepoints, so we serialize access
to them.

This fixes cases where we have multiple users setting up and
tearing down tracepoints, like this:

Problem here is that we need to make sure the NSH header is of
reasonable length.

Several notifiers are registered as part of router initialization.
Since some of these notifiers are registered before the end of the
initialization, it is possible for them to access uninitialized or freed
memory when processing notifications [1].

Additionally, some of these notifiers queue work items on a workqueue.
If these work items are executed after the router was de-initialized,
they will access freed memory.

Fix both problems by moving the registration of the notifiers to the end
of the router initialization and flush the work queue after they are
unregistered.

When optional counter support was added the allocation of the memory
holding the counter descriptors was not cleared properly. This caused
WARN_ON()s in the IB/sysfs code to be hit.

This is because the uninitialized memory made some of the counters wrongly
look like optional counters. Use kzalloc.

While here change the sizeof() calls to use the pointer rather than the
name of the type.

[Why]
IGT bypass test will set crc source as DPRX,and display DM didn`t check
connection type, it run the test on the HDMI connector ,then the kernel
will be crashed because aux->transfer is set null for HDMI connection.
This patch will skip the invalid connection test and fix kernel crash issue.

[How]

[How]

Inspired by commit 9fb7410("arm64/BUG: Use BRK instruction for
generic BUG traps"), do similar for LoongArch to use generic BUG()
handler.

This patch uses the BREAK software breakpoint instruction to generate
a trap instead, similarly to most other arches, with the generic BUG
code generating the dmesg boilerplate.

This allows bug metadata to be moved to a separate table and reduces
the amount of inline code at BUG() and WARN() sites. This also avoids
clobbering any registers before they can be dumped.

To mitigate the size of the bug table further, this patch makes use of
the existing infrastructure for encoding addresses within the bug table
as 32-bit relative pointers instead of absolute pointers.

(Note: this limits the max kernel size to 2GB.)

By keep sending L2CAP_CONF_REQ packets, chan->num_conf_rsp increases
multiple times and eventually it will wrap around the maximum number
(i.e., 255).
This patch prevents this by adding a boundary check with
L2CAP_MAX_CONF_RSP

[ Upstream commit adf0398 ]

There is a race condition between l2cap_chan_timeout() and
l2cap_chan_del(). When we use l2cap_chan_del() to delete the
channel, the chan->conn will be set to null. But the conn could
be dereferenced again in the mutex_lock() of l2cap_chan_timeout().
As a result the null pointer dereference bug will happen. The
KASAN report triggered by POC is shown below:
