I think this is just the limit of the clock frequency used and the dividers available. You can add a config.txt pararmeter |
[ Upstream commit 9b2761c ] The maximum chunks used by the function is (SPI_AGGR_BUFFER_SIZE / WSPI_MAX_CHUNK_SIZE + 1). The original commands array had space for (SPI_AGGR_BUFFER_SIZE / WSPI_MAX_CHUNK_SIZE) commands. When the last chunk is used (len > 4 * WSPI_MAX_CHUNK_SIZE), the last command is stored outside the bounds of the commands array. @popcornmix Where or What in the kernel do I have to change? I can recompiile the kernel, but I do not find the right place for my new init_uart_clock value. I suppose |
Do you need the uart frequency to be changed during kernel boot, or after? |
I need it after kernel boot. I am currently checking if 1Mbaud is enough. Maybe 2Mbaud. My procedure:
Did I forget to mention anything? |
If you want to use a standard baud rate then recompiling the kernel shouldn't be necessary. |
Excuse me, but I am not understanding what the discussion (your link) is good for? The discussion contains links that support my experience, i.e. say that kernel recompile is needed for BAUD > 230400. Different topic: I noticed that the mini-uart on RPi3 is capable of more than 230400 by default. I still think kernel recompiling is necessary to use high bautrates with /dev/ttyAMA0 on RPi2 (I started with ... from https://www.raspberrypi.org/downloads/raspbian/. But it would be awesome if you could show I am wrong.

Can you have a read of this: https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=113753&start=125#p801441 |
My problem is now fixed, without a custom kernel. How can I check the version of the firmware & *.dtb ? Or should I just go for 'rpi-update' on every Pi, after the apt-get update & upgrade ? I am slightly confused right now. I need to setup a couple of RPi2 in the future and it bugs me, that I cannot clearly tell, which step made it possible so that I just have to add the 'init_uart_clock' attribute. Sadly I do not have another one here for testing it right now. I am ordering another one right now, to test it. Thank you for your GREAT support. |
Note that the Pi itself does not have 'firmware', it's all on the SD card. On 4 August 2016 at 13:54, florian-z [email protected] wrote:

commit 18ae68f upstream. WMI ops wrappers did not properly check for null function pointers for spectral scan. This caused null dereference crash with WMI-TLV based firmware which doesn't implement spectral scan. The crash could be triggered with: ip link set dev wlan0 up echo background > /sys/kernel/debug/ieee80211/phy0/ath10k/spectral_scan_ctl The crash looked like this: [ 168.031989] BUG: unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference at (null) [ 168.037406] IP: [< (null)>] (null) [ 168.040395] PGD cdd4067 PUD fa0f067 PMD 0 [ 168.043303] Oops: 0010 [#1] SMP [ 168.045377] Modules linked in: ath10k_pci(O) ath10k_core(O) ath mac80211 cfg80211 [last unloaded: cfg80211] [ 168.051560] CPU: 1 PID: 1380 Comm: bash Tainted: G W O 4.8.0 #78 [ 168.054336] Hardware name: QEMU Standard PC (i440FX + PIIX, 1996), BIOS 1.7.5-20140531_083030-gandalf 04/01/2014 [ 168.059183] task: ffff88000c460c00 task.stack: ffff88000d4bc000 [ 168.061736] RIP: 0010:[<0000000000000000>] [< (null)>] (null) ... That should be introduced by commit: 7560cc3 ("iommu/vt-d: Fix lock inversion between iommu->lock and device_domain_lock", 2019-05-27) So far I still cannot figure out how the previous deadlock was triggered (I cannot find iommu lock taken before calling of iommu_flush_dev_iotlb()), however I'm pretty sure that that change should be incomplete at least because it does not fix all the places so we're still taking the locks in different orders, while reverting that commit is very clean to me so far that we should always take device_domain_lock first then the iommu lock. We can continue to try to find the real culprit mentioned in 7560cc3, but for now I think we should revert it to fix current breakage. Misc updates to let scx_layered share ravg with rusty
[ Upstream commit b16904f ] With latest upstream llvm18, the following test cases failed: $ ./test_progs -j #13/2 bpf_cookie/multi_kprobe_link_api:FAIL #13/3 bpf_cookie/multi_kprobe_attach_api:FAIL #13 bpf_cookie:FAIL #77 fentry_fexit:FAIL #78/1 fentry_test/fentry:FAIL #78 fentry_test:FAIL #82/1 fexit_test/fexit:FAIL #82 fexit_test:FAIL #112/1 kprobe_multi_test/skel_api:FAIL #112/2 kprobe_multi_test/link_api_addrs:FAIL [...] #112 kprobe_multi_test:FAIL #356/17 test_global_funcs/global_func17:FAIL #356 test_global_funcs:FAIL Further analysis shows llvm upstream patch [1] is responsible for the above failures. For example, for function bpf_fentry_test7() in net/bpf/test_run.c, without [1], the asm code is: 0000000000000400 <bpf_fentry_test7>: 400: f3 0f 1e fa endbr64 404: e8 00 00 00 00 callq 0x409 <bpf_fentry_test7+0x9> 409: 48 89 f8 movq %rdi, %rax 40c: c3 retq 40d: 0f 1f 00 nopl (%rax) ... and with [1], the asm code is: 0000000000005d20 <bpf_fentry_test7.specialized.1>: 5d20: e8 00 00 00 00 callq 0x5d25 <bpf_fentry_test7.specialized.1+0x5> 5d25: c3 retq ... and <bpf_fentry_test7.specialized.1> is called instead of <bpf_fentry_test7> and this caused test failures for #13/#77 etc. except #356. For test case #356/17, with [1] (progs/test_global_func17.c)), the main prog looks like: 0000000000000000 <global_func17>: 0: b4 00 00 00 2a 00 00 00 w0 = 0x2a 1: 95 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 exit ... which passed verification while the test itself expects a verification failure. Let us add 'barrier_var' style asm code in both places to prevent function specialization which caused selftests failure. Since its introduction, KCSAN has never understood the seqcount_latch interface (due to being unannotated). Unlike the regular seqlock interface, the seqcount_latch interface for latch writers never has had a well-defined critical section, making it difficult to teach tooling where the critical section starts and ends. Introduce an instrumentable (non-raw) seqcount_latch interface, with which we can clearly denote writer critical sections. This both helps readability and tooling like KCSAN to understand when the writer is done updating all latch copies. Programming serial port, speeds of 57600, 115200 working ok, tried to set to 230400, found the actual serial port speed was 9600.
Verified issue by using minicom, exactly same results.
