I'm a bit worried this may fix the minimal reproduction of the issue I created, but not the larger problem of having mixed java/kotlin tests. I'm not sure from skimming the code, but it seems like mergeClassesDirs sometimes recursively deletes the directory, depending on a boolean it's passed. I wasn't seeing this problem with just Java tests, but it's the combination of Java + Kotlin tests that made the issue happen. Could it be that this change will still have one set of tests clobbering the others? Is that going to mean that not all of my tests will get run by Quarkus?

Is there an easy way for me to test this change locally before the .Final release?

@NfNitLoop you could clone the Quarkus repo, build it with mvn -Dquickly and update your project to io.quarkus:quarkus-bom:999-SNAPSHOT and the plugin of the same version.
