Feature ‐ Scriptshifter support for transliteration of non‐latin scripts

Matt Miller edited this page Aug 1, 2023 · 1 revision

In cataloging non-latin script based languages the native script is added for some fields to the record as well as a transliteration of the literal. In Voyager this was done using the tool Transliterator, in BF we developed at tool call Scriptshifter which is an API based tool to transliterate a large range of languages: https://github.com/lcnetdev/scriptshifter

This API is hosted and Marva talked to the API to do transliterations via this button in the interface:

This opens a mini editor window:

You select the language you want to use and click the button it talks to the API returns the transliterated string so you can make edits/corrections: image

Click save replaces the string in the field with the value in the mini-editor.
