Welcome

Welcome to the Civic Opportunity Project Team! This guide will help get you up to speed on what you need to know to get started as a project team member.

Getting Started

If you have not read the Guide for New Volunteers, please do so.

  1. Read Introduction to the Project
  2. Fill in our Volunteer Interest Form
  3. Join the Civic Opportunity Slack channel and introduce yourself
  4. Slack our PM Ray with your Gmail address
  5. Accept your Google Drive invite to access the shared folder
  6. Create Github profile/handle and notify Bonnie. She will add you to the project board.
  7. Add yourself to the Team Roster and inform Ray once complete
  8. Review the project OKR document
  9. Review the Project Initiatives
  10. Review the Glossary (in progress)
  11. Attend our weekly meetings on Thursdays @ 4pm PST and Sundays @ 9am PST via Zoom
  12. Review the contents of our Continuous Milestone and complete any relevant tasks
  13. Document project questions in this Github Issue

Tackling a Project Issue

Once you feel like you have a good grasp on what we are trying to accomplish with the project, let your PM know that you are ready to take on your first issue! For a list of open project issues, please review the Project Issues page.

Accessibility Standards

Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requires that all websites be accessible to people with disabilities. The World Wide Web (W3C) Consortium's Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 Level AA function as the current legal standard for website accessibility.
