Did you search for similar issues before submitting this one?
yes

Describe the issue you encountered:
The background for the tile is blue and the icon is just the one used by the executable

Expected behavior:
We'd have a proper background color and a beautiful image

  • Platform (Win7, 8, 10? macOS? Linux distro?):
Windows 10 (although, Windows 8.1 should be affected too)
  • Brave Version:
    All versions
  • Steps to reproduce:
    1. Install on Windows
    2. Search for program (Start -> type brave)
    3. Right click the app and pick "Pin to Start"
    4. Notice the icon is bland
  • Screenshot if needed:
  • Any related issues:

There's a guide on MSDN which explains the manifest format (simply a file that goes into where program is installed). Within a few minutes, I was able to customize this pretty nicely 😄

@bradleyrichter - What do you think about this? There are some restrictions, but we can make this look good 😄 We would need nice clean images in 70x70 and 150x150 (I just scaled the braveAbout.png myself using gimp as a proof of concept). For the background color, I went with the beautiful Brave orange (which is #FF5000), but we can set this to whatever we like. Text can be either white or black.

Good idea. If handy, can you post a screen shot showing Firefox and/or other browser example? (A good example if one exists. )

Looks like only Chrome takes advantage of this. I other apps on my PC and the MS Office apps had custom tile colors... but the rest were plain (like iTunes):

I think the best thing would be to use a dark grey BG and the lion icon at about 50% of the height. Larger than the normal default icon size (like FX) but smaller than Chrome.

Fantastic. I'd prefer maybe a size in between the first and the last. @bradleyrichter ?
