Steam Beta account still needed #10
Comments
I WAS also getting this message. Ran steam via the command line and it updated itself. |
I got this message a few times also, having previously installed the closed Steam beta without being invited. I figured remnants of the prior Steam install were still in place on my system. I found a "Steam/" directory in my user directory ("/home/myusername/Steam/"). I deleted that whole Steam directory and installed the updated Steam client again. After some downloads and new computer verification, I'm in. I hope it works for you. |
I deleted /home/amirouche/.local/share/Steam directory, I hope this works 2012/12/20 losttime [email protected]

Steam sometimes waits before auto-updating. You can normally force it to by selecting Check For Updates in the Steam menu, however you can't access this menu if the beta check dialog shows. The other way is to delete .local/share/Steam like mentioned above. |
It worked thanks. |
Even easier: steam --update |
Just a quick note to say that the above solutions didn't work for me. BUT, running the steam.sh script in ~/Steam did. |
I installed the previous version uninstalled it and installed the new one, I still get the pop-up with «you need linux beta account».
