When doing successive oversampling settings, it may fail to update filter parameters silently: - First time oversampling is being set, it will be successful, as fl->res is 0 initially. - Next attempts with various oversamp value may return 0 (success), but keep previous filter parameters, due to 'res' never reaches above or equal current 'fl->res'. This is particularly true when setting sampling frequency (that relies on oversamp). When channel clk source is set to "CLKOUT_F" or "CLKOUT_R" (e.g. div2), sample rate is currently set to half the requested value. Currently, we use int for buffer length and bytes_per_datum. However, kfifo uses unsigned int for length and size_t for element size. We need to make sure these matches or we will have bugs related to overflow (in the range between INT_MAX and UINT_MAX for length, for example). In addition, set_bytes_per_datum uses size_t while bytes_per_datum is an int, which would cause bugs for large values of bytes_per_datum. Currently, the following causes a kernel OOPS in memcpy: echo 1073741825 > buffer/length echo 1 > buffer/enable Note that using 1073741824 instead of 1073741825 causes "write error: Cannot allocate memory" but no OOPS. This is because 1073741824 == 2^30 and 1073741825 == 2^30+1. Since kfifo rounds up to the nearest power of 2, it will actually call kmalloc with roundup_pow_of_two(length) * bytes_per_datum. Using length == 1073741825 and bytes_per_datum == 2, we get: kmalloc(roundup_pow_of_two(1073741825) * 2 or kmalloc(2147483648 * 2) or kmalloc(4294967296) or kmalloc(UINT_MAX + 1) so this overflows to 0, causing kmalloc to return ZERO_SIZE_PTR and subsequent memcpy to fail once the device is enabled. Fix this by checking for overflow prior to allocating a kfifo. With this check added, the above code returns -EINVAL when enabling the buffer, rather than causing an OOPS. …l channels When iterating through the channels, the index in the array is not the scan index. Added an xlate function to translate to the proper index. The result of the bug is that the channel array is indexed with a wrong index, thus instead of the proper channel, we access invalid memory, which may lead to invalid results and/or corruption. This will be used also for devicetree channel xlate. …er resume hid_sensor_set_power_work() powers the sensors back up after a resume based on the user_requested_state atomic_t. But hid_sensor_power_state() treats this as a boolean flag, leading to the following problematic scenario: 1) Some app starts using the iio-sensor in buffered / triggered mode, hid_sensor_data_rdy_trigger_set_state(true) gets called, setting user_requested_state to 1. 2) Something directly accesses a _raw value through sysfs, leading to a call to hid_sensor_power_state(true) followed by hid_sensor_power_state(false) call, this sets user_requested_state to 1 followed by setting it to 0. 3) Suspend/resume the machine, hid_sensor_set_power_work() now does NOT power the sensor back up because user_requested_state (wrongly) is 0. Which stops the app using the sensor in buffered mode from receiving any new values. This commit changes user_requested_state to a counter tracking how many times hid_sensor_power_state(true) was called instead, fixing this. We need to select the buffer code, otherwise we get build errors with undefined functions on the trigger and buffer, if we select just IIO and then AT91_SAMA5D2_ADC from menuconfig This adds a Kconfig 'select' statement like other ADC drivers have it already. Second patch deals with checking the userspace value passed for length for potential overflow. * ad7793 - Catch up with changes to the ad_sigma_delta core and use read_raw / write_raw iwth IIO_CHAN_INFO_SAMP_FEW to handle sampling frequency control. * at91-sama5d2 - Channel config for differential channels was completely broken. - Missing Kconfig dependency for buffer support. * hid-sensor - Fix an issue with powering up after resume due to wrong reference counting. * stm32-dfsdm - Fix an issue with second writes of the oversampling settings failing. - Fix an issue with the sample rate being set to half of requested value when particular clock source is used.
syzbot found a way to trigger an infinitie loop by overflowing @offset variable that has been forced to use u16 for some very obscure reason in the past. We probably want to look at NEXTHDR_FRAGMENT handling which looks wrong, in a separate patch. If the boot ACL entry is already NULL we should not fill in the upper two DWs with 0xfffffffff. Otherwise they are not shown as empty entries when the sysfs attribute is read. Doing faccessat("/afs/some/directory", 0) triggers a BUG in the permissions check code. Fix this by just removing the BUG section. If no permissions are asked for, just return okay if the file exists. Also: (1) Split up the directory check so that it has separate if-statements rather than if-else-if (e.g. checking for MAY_EXEC shouldn't skip the check for MAY_READ and MAY_WRITE). In theory the AFS_VLSF_BACKVOL flag for a server in a vldb entry would indicate the presence of a backup volume on that server. In practice however, this flag is never set, and the presence of a backup volume is implied by the entry having AFS_VLF_BACKEXISTS set, for the server that hosts the read-write volume (has AFS_VLSF_RWVOL). strlcpy() can't be safely used on a user-space provided string, as it can try to read beyond the buffer's end, if the latter is not NULL terminated. New compilers use the floating-point registers as spill registers when there is high register pressure. In the purgatory however, the afp control bit is not set. This leads to an exception whenever a floating-point instruction is used, which again causes an interrupt loop. Forbid the compiler to use floating-point instructions by adding -msoft-float to KBUILD_CFLAGS. …lity of NTC The nds32 architecture will use physical memory when interrupt or exception comes and it will use the setting of NTC0-4. The original implementation didn't consider the DRAM start address may start from 1GB, 2GB or 3GB to cause this issue. It will write the data to DRAM if it is running in physical address however kernel will read the data with virtaul address through data cache. In this case, the data of DRAM is latest. [ cmllamas: clean forward port from commit 015ac18 ("binder: fix UAF of alloc->vma in race with munmap()") in 5.10 stable. It is needed in mainline after the revert of commit a43cfc8 ("android: binder: stop saving a pointer to the VMA") as pointed out by Liam. Commit 1e8fed8 ("powerpc: drop ranges for definition of ARCH_FORCE_MAX_ORDER") removed the limits on the possible values for ARCH_FORCE_MAX_ORDER. However removing the ranges entirely causes some common work flows to break. For example building a defconfig (which uses 64K pages), changing the page size to 4K, and rebuilding used to work, because ARCH_FORCE_MAX_ORDER would be clamped to 12 by the ranges. In case user switch a device from switchdev mode to legacy mode, mlx5 first unpair the E-switch and afterwards unload the uplink vport. From the other hand, in case user remove or reload a device, mlx5 first unload the uplink vport and afterwards unpair the E-switch. The latter is causing a bug[1], hence, handle pairing of E-switch as part of uplink un/load APIs. [1] In case VF_LAG is used, every tc fdb flow is duplicated to the peer esw. However, the original esw keeps a pointer to this duplicated flow, not the peer esw. e.g.: if user create tc fdb flow over esw0, the flow is duplicated over esw1, in FW/HW, but in SW, esw0 keeps a pointer to the duplicated flow. During module unload while a peer tc fdb flow is still offloaded, in case the first device to be removed is the peer device (esw1 in the example above), the peer net-dev is destroyed, and so the mlx5e_priv is memset to 0. Afterwards, the peer device is trying to unpair himself from the original device (esw0 in the example above). Unpair API invoke the original device to clear peer flow from its eswitch (esw0), but the peer flow, which is stored over the original eswitch (esw0), is trying to use the peer mlx5e_priv, which is memset to 0 and result in bellow kernel-oops. Cited commit causes ABBA deadlock[0] when peer flows are created while holding the devcom rw semaphore. Due to peer flows offload implementation the lock is taken much higher up the call chain and there is no obvious way to easily fix the deadlock. Instead, since tc route query code needs the peer eswitch structure only to perform a lookup in xarray and doesn't perform any sleeping operations with it, refactor the code for lockless execution in following ways: - RCUify the devcom 'data' pointer. When resetting the pointer synchronously wait for RCU grace period before returning. This is fine since devcom is currently only used for synchronization of pairing/unpairing of eswitches which is rare and already expensive as-is. - Wrap all usages of 'paired' boolean in {READ|WRITE}_ONCE(). The flag has already been used in some unlocked contexts without proper annotations (e.g. users of mlx5_devcom_is_paired() function), but it wasn't an issue since all relevant code paths checked it again after obtaining the devcom semaphore. Now it is also used by mlx5_devcom_get_peer_data_rcu() as "best effort" check to return NULL when devcom is being unpaired. Note that while RCU read lock doesn't prevent the unpaired flag from being changed concurrently it still guarantees that reader can continue to use 'data'. - Refactor mlx5e_tc_query_route_vport() function to use new mlx5_devcom_get_peer_data_rcu() API which fixes the deadlock. The read_skb hook calls consume_skb() now, but this means that if the recv_actor program wants to use the skb it needs to inc the ref cnt so that the consume_skb() doesn't kfree the sk_buff. This is problematic because in some error cases under memory pressure we may need to linearize the sk_buff from sk_psock_skb_ingress_enqueue(). Then we get this, skb_linearize() __pskb_pull_tail() pskb_expand_head() BUG_ON(skb_shared(skb)) Because we incremented users refcnt from sk_psock_verdict_recv() we hit the bug on with refcnt > 1 and trip it. To fix lets simply pass ownership of the sk_buff through the skb_read call. Then we can drop the consume from read_skb handlers and assume the verdict recv does any required kfree. Bug found while testing in our CI which runs in VMs that hit memory constraints rather regularly. William tested TCP read_skb handlers. Historically connect(AF_UNSPEC) has been abused by syzkaller and other fuzzers to trigger various bugs. A recent one triggers a divide-by-zero [1], and Paolo Abeni was able to diagnose the issue. tcp_recvmsg_locked() has tests about sk_state being not TCP_LISTEN and TCP REPAIR mode being not used. Then later if socket lock is released in sk_wait_data(), another thread can call connect(AF_UNSPEC), then make this socket a TCP listener. When recvmsg() is resumed, it can eventually call tcp_cleanup_rbuf() and attempt a divide by 0 in tcp_rcv_space_adjust() [1] This patch adds a new socket field, counting number of threads blocked in sk_wait_event() and inet_wait_for_connect(). If this counter is not zero, tcp_disconnect() returns an error. This patch adds code in blocking socket system calls, thus should not hurt performance of non blocking ones. mlx5 add IRQs to rmap upon MSIX request, and mlx5 remove rmap from MSIX only if msi_map.index is populated. However, msi_map.index is populated only when dynamic MSIX is supported. This results in freeing IRQs without removing them from rmap, which triggers the bellow WARN_ON[1]. rmap is a feature which have no relation to dynamic MSIX. Hence, remove the check of msi_map.index when removing IRQ from rmap. The ice driver caches next_to_clean value at the beginning of ice_clean_rx_irq() in order to remember the first buffer that has to be freed/recycled after main Rx processing loop. The end boundary is indicated by first descriptor of frame that Rx processing loop has ended its duties. Note that if mentioned loop ended in the middle of gathering multi-buffer frame, next_to_clean would be pointing to the descriptor in the middle of the frame BUT freeing/recycling stage will stop at the first descriptor. This means that next iteration of ice_clean_rx_irq() will miss the (first_desc, next_to_clean - 1) entries. syzkaller found a repro that causes Hung Task [0] with ipset. The repro first creates an ipset and then tries to delete a large number of IPs from the ipset concurrently: IPSET_ATTR_IPADDR_IPV4 : 172.20.20.187 IPSET_ATTR_CIDR : 2 The first deleting thread hogs a CPU with nfnl_lock(NFNL_SUBSYS_IPSET) held, and other threads wait for it to be released. Previously, the same issue existed in set->variant->uadt() that could run so long under ip_set_lock(set). Commit 5e29dc3 ("netfilter: ipset: Rework long task execution when adding/deleting entries") tried to fix it, but the issue still exists in the caller with another mutex. While adding/deleting many IPs, we should release the CPU periodically to prevent someone from abusing ipset to hang the system. The CmprI and CmprE fields indicate the number of prefix octets that are shared with the IPv6 Destination Address. When CmprI or CmprE is not 0, Addresses[1..n] are compressed as follows: 1..n-1 : (16 - CmprI) bytes n : (16 - CmprE) bytes Segments Left indicates the number of route segments remaining. When the value is not zero, the SRH is forwarded to the next hop. Its address is extracted from Addresses[n - Segment Left + 1] and swapped with IPv6 Destination Address. When Segment Left is greater than or equal to 2, the size of SRH is not changed because Addresses[1..n-1] are decompressed and recompressed with CmprI. OTOH, when Segment Left changes from 1 to 0, the new SRH could have a different size because Addresses[1..n-1] are decompressed with CmprI and recompressed with CmprE. Let's say CmprI is 15 and CmprE is 0. When we receive SRH with Segment Left >= 2, Addresses[1..n-1] have 1 byte for each, and Addresses[n] has 16 bytes. When Segment Left is 1, Addresses[1..n-1] is decompressed to 16 bytes and not recompressed. Finally, the new SRH will need more room in the header, and the size is (16 - 1) * (n - 1) bytes. Here the max value of n is 255 as Segment Left is u8, so in the worst case, we have to allocate 3825 bytes in the skb headroom. However, now we only allocate a small fixed buffer that is IPV6_RPL_SRH_WORST_SWAP_SIZE (16 + 7 bytes). If the decompressed size overflows the room, skb_push() hits BUG() below [0]. Instead of allocating the fixed buffer for every packet, let's allocate enough headroom only when we receive SRH with Segment Left 1. Currently, the per cpu upcall counters are allocated after the vport is created and inserted into the system. This could lead to the datapath accessing the counters before they are allocated resulting in a kernel Oops. Give the bus_lock and msg_lock of each bus a different unique key so that it is possible to acquire the locks of multiple buses without lockdep asserting a possible deadlock. Using mutex_init() to initialize a mutex gives all those mutexes the same lock class. Lockdep checking treats it as an error to attempt to take a mutex while already holding a mutex of the same class. This causes a lockdep assert when sdw_acquire_bus_lock() attempts to lock multiple buses, and when do_bank_switch() takes multiple msg_lock. The pcm state can be SNDRV_PCM_STATE_DISCONNECTED at disconnect callback, and there is not an entry of SNDRV_PCM_STATE_DISCONNECTED in snd_pcm_state_names. If the module can load the RCA but not the firmware binary, it will call the cleanup functions. Then unloading the module causes general protection fault due to double free. The Focusrite Scarlett Gen 4 Solo has Air and Phantom Power controls on analogue input thesofproject#2 (the Gen 3 Solo had these controls on analogue input #1). Add air_input_first and phantom_first device info options to cater for this.
