Safety First

Safety is important. Working with power tools like Maslow to build things can be dangerous. Here are some steps you can take to be safe.
Rotary tools like routers can create friction between the cutting bit and the wood being cut resulting in heat build up. While routers rarely burst in to flame, this heat can build up and start a fire if it is left untended. Always be in the vicinity of your machine while it is running to keep an eye on it.
It is a good idea to have the power for the motors and the router on a separate power cord, preferably with an Emergency Stop. Somewhere easy to reach. Cutting the power of the motors and router can prevent damage if anything seem not right.
Lifting and moving large sheets of plywood can be dangerous, and it's important to do it safely. It's always a good idea to have a partner to move full sheets of plywood.
Protect your body by wearing appropriate PPE like safety glasses and earplugs. When handling materials, wear gloves and if you've got them, steel toed boots.
It's best to use a router that has an option for dust collection built-in. In addition to keeping the often toxic dust out of your lungs, it keeps the work area clean so there's less risk of slipping.
Every router is different, follow the instructions in the safety guide that came with your router to operate it safely.
