[ Upstream commit 6ff7b06 ] KASAN has found use-after-free in fixed_mdio_bus_init, commit 0c692d0 ("drivers/net/phy/mdio_bus.c: call put_device on device_register() failure") call put_device() while device_register() fails,give up the last reference to the device and allow mdiobus_release to be executed ,kfreeing the bus. However in most drives, mdiobus_free be called to free the bus while mdiobus_register fails. use-after-free occurs when access bus again, this patch revert it to let mdiobus_free free the bus. [ Upstream commit 0f20615 ] Fix BPF_CORE_READ_BITFIELD() macro used for reading CO-RE-relocatable bitfields. Missing breaks in a switch caused 8-byte reads always. This can confuse libbpf because it does strict checks that memory load size corresponds to the original size of the field, which in this case quite often would be wrong. After fixing that, we run into another problem, which quite subtle, so worth documenting here. The issue is in Clang optimization and CO-RE relocation interactions. Without that asm volatile construct (also known as barrier_var()), Clang will re-order BYTE_OFFSET and BYTE_SIZE relocations and will apply BYTE_OFFSET 4 times for each switch case arm. This will result in the same error from libbpf about mismatch of memory load size and original field size. I.e., if we were reading u32, we'd still have *(u8 *), *(u16 *), *(u32 *), and *(u64 *) memory loads, three of which will fail. [ Upstream commit 0f20615 ] Fix BPF_CORE_READ_BITFIELD() macro used for reading CO-RE-relocatable bitfields. Missing breaks in a switch caused 8-byte reads always. This can confuse libbpf because it does strict checks that memory load size corresponds to the original size of the field, which in this case quite often would be wrong. After fixing that, we run into another problem, which quite subtle, so worth documenting here. The issue is in Clang optimization and CO-RE relocation interactions. Without that asm volatile construct (also known as barrier_var()), Clang will re-order BYTE_OFFSET and BYTE_SIZE relocations and will apply BYTE_OFFSET 4 times for each switch case arm. This will result in the same error from libbpf about mismatch of memory load size and original field size. I.e., if we were reading u32, we'd still have *(u8 *), *(u16 *), *(u32 *), and *(u64 *) memory loads, three of which will fail. Explicitly marking them with a version breaks kallsyms, so that doesn't seem to be possible. Marking all the symbols as local seems correct, and does seem to address the issue, so do that. Also do it for static link, nsswitch libraries could still be loaded there. commit 0160028 upstream. In 'rp2_probe', the driver registers 'rp2_uart_interrupt' then calls 'rp2_fw_cb' through 'request_firmware_nowait'. In 'rp2_fw_cb', if the firmware don't exists, function just return without initializing ports of 'rp2_card'. But now the interrupt handler function has been registered, and when an interrupt comes, 'rp2_uart_interrupt' may access those ports then causing NULL pointer dereference or other bugs. Because the driver does some initialization work in 'rp2_fw_cb', in order to make the driver ready to handle interrupts, 'request_firmware' should be used instead of asynchronous 'request_firmware_nowait'. [ Upstream commit e102db7 ] Commit c7a2190 ("ice: Remove xsk_buff_pool from VSI structure") silently introduced a regression and broke the Tx side of AF_XDP in copy mode. xsk_pool on ice_ring is set only based on the existence of the XDP prog on the VSI which in turn picks ice_clean_tx_irq_zc to be executed. That is not something that should happen for copy mode as it should use the regular data path ice_clean_tx_irq. This loads, through lots of indirection that I snipped, the libcom_err.so.2 library, which (in an unknown function, "??") calls sem_init(). Now, of course it wants to get libpthread's sem_init(), since it's linked against libpthread. However, the dynamic linker looks up that symbol against the binary first, and gets the kernel's sem_init(). Hajime Tazaki noted that "objcopy -L" can localize a symbol, so the dynamic linker wouldn't do the lookup this way. I tried, but for some reason that didn't seem to work. Doing the same thing in the linker script instead does seem to work, though I cannot entirely explain - it *also* works if I just add "VERSION { { global: *; }; }" instead, indicating that something else is happening that I don't really understand. It may be that explicitly doing that marks them with some kind of empty version, and that's different from the default. Explicitly marking them with a version breaks kallsyms, so that doesn't seem to be possible. Marking all the symbols as local seems correct, and does seem to address the issue, so do that. Also do it for static link, nsswitch libraries could still be loaded there. commit 0160028 upstream. In 'rp2_probe', the driver registers 'rp2_uart_interrupt' then calls 'rp2_fw_cb' through 'request_firmware_nowait'. In 'rp2_fw_cb', if the firmware don't exists, function just return without initializing ports of 'rp2_card'. But now the interrupt handler function has been registered, and when an interrupt comes, 'rp2_uart_interrupt' may access those ports then causing NULL pointer dereference or other bugs. Because the driver does some initialization work in 'rp2_fw_cb', in order to make the driver ready to handle interrupts, 'request_firmware' should be used instead of asynchronous 'request_firmware_nowait'. If the target device is QAT GEN4, the key size is rounded up by 16 since a rounded up size is expected by the device. commit 503930f upstream. rtnl_offload_xstats_get_size_hw_s_info_one() conditionalizes the size-computation for IFLA_OFFLOAD_XSTATS_HW_S_INFO_USED based on whether or not the device has offload_xstats enabled. Further analysis confirmed that it is because the CPU online processing for osnoise is implemented through workers, which is asynchronous with the offline processing. When the worker was scheduled to create a thread, the CPU may has already been removed from the cpu_online_mask during the offline process, resulting in the inability to select the right CPU: T1 | T2 [CPUHP_ONLINE] | cpu_device_down() osnoise_hotplug_workfn() | | cpus_write_lock() | takedown_cpu(1) | cpus_write_unlock() [CPUHP_OFFLINE] | cpus_read_lock() | start_kthread(1) | cpus_read_unlock() | To fix this, skip online processing if the CPU is already offline. Added support for encrypted keys in fscrypt.
In combination with the previously provided pull request #43 it is possible to protect the encryption keys for a ext4 filesystem by the CAAM for example.
