Issues with switching #1164
Comments
Can you check if you still have the issue with the v6.6.1 ? (released yesterday). |
@Belphemur I updated my issue with the relevant info, as promised. Hope it helps! |
I'm having the same issue. I hit my hotkeys to switch, and it says it switches, but nothing actually changes. I also have a steelseries headset with the GG software, so maybe there is a connection there? I am on 6.6.1. |
@kungfujedis I was able to fix it (for now) by uninstalling and reinstalling soundswitch and disabling and re-enabling sonar in GG. |
@svalencia014 Thanks, Ill try that. Though i already have sonar disabled, as i don't use it. edit - I tried that, i still have the issue. I've noticed that the sound control panel does not show my output device changing, but it does show the comms device changing. After some number of times of hitting my hotkey, it will start changing, but the actual output doesn't change. Also, the 'new' sounds settings in Windows 11 shows a different output device then the old control panel. |
I just updated to 6.6.1 this morning and I am unable to switch profiles with my hotkeys. The notifications pop up in the corners, but the status icon does not change in the system tray. Selecting the profile from the tray icon menu does work. The hot keys will work once in some cases, but are not consistent. |
I went back to 6.6.0, same issue. I then went back to 6.5.4 and it works. I guess I'll stay on 6.5.4 for a bit. |
Can confirm. 6.5.4 profile switching works properly for me. |
I reinstalled version 6.6.1 and it's still working fine as far as I can tell. If this bug occurs again I'll update the issue but for now it seems like a reinstall and reconfiguration of my windows audio devices got it to fix itself |
I am having a similar issue. Starting recently one of my hotkeys stopped working. It shows the popup that soundswitch changed the audio devices, but the audio devices don't actually change. I have 2 other hotkeys and those both still work. The hotkey to cycle through them (ctrl + alt + f11) still works to set the audio device when it gets to the one where the hotkey is failing. The shortcut buttons in the context menu for the taksbar icon also work to switch to that input. It is only that the hotkey I have setup does not work anymore. |
Hello, Can you try the new nightly ? Stop SoundSwitch, replace all file by the content of the zip, restart SoundSwitch |
Can you right click on SoundSwitch and do Reset per app device ?
And see if that fixes it ?

Didn't seem to work for me. Same issue as before. I exited sound switch. I deleted the contents of C:\Program Files\SoundSwitch and then pasted in the contents of the nightly build zip file version 6.6.1.3700. Then I ran it again. Here's a video of me using the hotkeys to change sound devices.

Hello, Can you try the new nightly (new one, I think I found the bug this time)? Stop SoundSwitch, replace all file by the content of the zip, restart SoundSwitch |
It's working for me now. Full disclosure, I saw your comment from yesterday just now as well and it may just be that I clicked "reset per app device" just now that fixed it. Either way, I appreciate the work you've put in to fix it. |
I am not sure which step fixed it, but doing "Reset per app device" in the nightly has fixed the issue for me! |
Finally able to try the nightly, plus "reset per app audio". All appears to be working now. Thanks! |

What happened?
I have 3 profiles defined to swap between virtual devices provided by SteelSeries GG. Everything was working fine until late into last week when switching from B to A or C to A stopped working. I can't switch to output A unless I do it manually through Windows settings. The same problems as in #1143 have been occurring as well.
Step to reproduce
Using the software as intended, using 3 key binds to swap between 3 virtual devices. Here is a short YouTube video demonstrating the bug.
Version
6.6.1
What version of Windows are you seeing the problem on?
Windows 11
