What happened?

I have been using this software for a while and always keep it up to date but at some point in the last few/several months, the keyboard volume control has started malfunctioning. It only works for one of the devices even though the other device is currently selected. For example, I'm able to change the volume for my headphones even when my speakers are set as the current output device.

I came across this but resetting the sound settings didn't help.

Step to reproduce

Version

6.5.4

I have also tried installing a few of the older versions (6.4.0 and 6.4.3) but that didn't fix this either

What version of Windows are you seeing the problem on?

Windows 10

Relevant log output

I can post any logs once I'm told where they're located

Hello,

So what you're saying is that you can't change the volume of the default device after switching device with SoundSwitch ?

What happens when you try to use the slider in Windows ?

Yup that is correct. The volume slider works fine.

Btw this is the case on both my desktop and work laptop that's connected to the same peripherals and monitors using a dock (and direct hdmi since the dock only supports one video output).

However on my work laptop I recently noticed that using the volume control buttons on the laptop's keyboard works correctly - they always change the volume of the default device set by SoundSwitch. But when I try to use the volume control wheel on my full size dell keyboard, the volume control only works for my headset and never the speakers.

I'm not so sure SoundSwitch is the issue in that setup.
Hard to know how windows react with multiple device controlling the same audio device.

Do you encounter the same issue if you don't have SoundSwitch running and use the Windows audio switcher ?

On my desktop I've only got one keyboard attached

Can you try this version and see if it fixes it ?

That didn't work :(

Nope, the Windows audio switcher always works correctly

I think I am having the same problem. The little popup that Windows does when I adjust volume gets stuck at 41% and doesn't respond, as well as the icon in the tray (leading to the action center), but going into the action center shows it working.

Happened to me once, fixed it by "Reset per app audio". What is this used for anyway?

I couldn't replicate the problem to try again.
