I think you'll need to double-check that a hardcoded PUBLIC_DISPATCH_SELECTOR is used whenever some of these selectors were used.

E.g., when loading bytecode. E.g., whatever was using the avmEnvironment.functionselector: you were trying to use .empty(), but IIRC from private, the call requests are being filled with PUBLIC_DISPATCH_SELECTOR. etc

It doesn't seem right to initialize the simulator with the fnName. The name will never be available to the sequencer, which is the most important user of the simulator. It will only be available locally via the PXE. Also, I suppose this is used mostly for debugging so it feels too much to ask for it.

I would recompute it internally using getDebugPublicFunctionName if needed.

I changed this but since getDebudPublicFunctionName is asynchronous, we cannot perform it in a constructor.

Both existing callers to createPublicExecutionRequest() in client_execution_context.ts are passing the constant PUBLIC_DISPATCH_SELECTOR

@fcarreiro My understanding of the code is that the private land sets the function selector as part of Tx structure which contains an array of PublicExecutionRequest and FunctionSelector is a member: PublicExecutionRequest.callContext.functionSelector

The only code I have found which sets a new PublicExecutionRequest on client side is createPublicExecutionRequest().

What I mean is that you should be sure that the function selector fields that you are removing (or replacing with .empty()) did not have an actually meaningful value that was being used somewhere. I gave the example of enqueued calls. Like you say, the client execution context uses PUBLIC_DISPATCH_SELECTOR. The reasoning is that, if that is being set, it's because it matters somewhere and we cannot have just any value there (unless the proper changes are made).

In any case, e2e tests should let you know if things are right :) now they are failing with "Header not set" which idk what it could be.
