MainBoard V1.1
The Halo MainBoard V1.1 was based on valuable user feedback gathered from the Halo community on Discord. It introduces a series of improvements and design features aimed at enhancing usability and lighting effects. With updated LED options and seamless compatibility with existing firmware, this mainboard offers flexibility and ease of soldering.
The V1.1 mainboard has been redesigned to accommodate larger, easier-to-solder LEDs. Two LED options are provided:
- 5050 Addressable LEDs: These widely-used, individually controllable LEDs are much easier to solder compared to the 4020 side firing LEDs from V1.0.
- 7 LED NeoPixel Jewel: A compact and efficient alternative, V1.1 provides a footprint to solder a pre-assembled cluster of LEDs for users looking for simplified installation.
To maximize the effectiveness of the new LED configuration, the Light_Diffuser_V1.1 is required. This diffuser enhances the direction and quality of light, ensuring it is better focused toward the outer edges. It is a critical accessory for achieving uniform and appealing illumination in the Halo AQI monitor.
The PCB is fully compatible with the default Halo firmware. Users can integrate the new mainboard without making any modifications to the firmware, making upgrades seamless and hassle-free.
While the V1.1 PCB offers two LED configurations, soldering the outer ring of 5050 addressable LEDs is highly recommended for achieving the best visual results. This option provides enhanced brightness and a more uniform lighting effect, which are crucial for projects prioritizing aesthetics and visibility.
-
Solder individual pin headers on the MainBoard V1.1 from the bottom.
-
Solder the Jewel in place. and trim off the pin headers flush with the top surface of the LEDs.
