This issue is to track progress of discussions on subtitle/caption support for 360° video on the web.

This topic was introduced during an M&E IG meeting in February 2019 by @pthopesch from IRT (minutes), and raised again by @TairT at the M&E IG meeting at TPAC 2019 (minutes).

Related issue: #27 on 360° video support.

There are two issues in the Immersive Web CG Proposals repo: Use case descriptions for subtitles in 360° and Requirements for subtitles and text in WebXR.

The W3C Web Accessibility Initiative is gathering user requirements for XR.

There is now an Immersive Captions CG, which had an initial meeting on 16th October (notes).
