I don't see any TS errors.
And enabling useUnknownInCatchVariables (pending #4932) is obviously a better choice than explicit anys.

Oh now I see the errors, when choosing VS Code's built-in TS version.

I think it's better to add instance of Error guard in the error handlers than explicit anys.

This is not the right way, we already have a PR for bringing TS 4.4 support and tracking api-extractor support here: #4932
