About UFS Policies
The UFS policies described here are necessarily limited in scope. Many of the components that are used in UFS applications are community-developed software packages that are also used in other modeling systems. The development teams for these components have created their own repositories and policies (for example, the Modular Ocean Model - MOM6). The policies outlined in this wiki are not intended to replace those of well-established efforts. They apply mainly to the UFS application repositories, which are "umbrella repositories." The umbrella repositories, such as ufs-srweather-app, contain links to their constituent components rather than source code. The policies also apply to the contents of repositories such as ufs-weather-model, which contain source code that is managed by UFS collaborators.
