commit 67069a1 upstream. ASan reported a memory leak caused by info_linear not being deallocated. The info_linear was allocated during in perf_event__synthesize_one_bpf_prog(). commit 41d5854 upstream. I got several memory leak reports from Asan with a simple command. It was because VDSO is not released due to the refcount. Also, if you look at the commit 1fb7d06, it adds the srcline property into the struct, but not initializing it everywhere needed. Committer notes: Now I see, when using --ignore-callees=do_idle we end up here at line 2189 in add_callchain_ip(): 2181 if (al.sym != NULL) { 2182 if (perf_hpp_list.parent && !*parent && 2183 symbol__match_regex(al.sym, &parent_regex)) 2184 *parent = al.sym; 2185 else if (have_ignore_callees && root_al && 2186 symbol__match_regex(al.sym, &ignore_callees_regex)) { 2187 /* Treat this symbol as the root, 2188 forgetting its callees. */ 2189 *root_al = al; 2190 callchain_cursor_reset(cursor); 2191 } 2192 } And the al that doesn't have the ->srcline field initialized will be copied to the root_al, so then, back to: 1211 int hist_entry_iter__add(struct hist_entry_iter *iter, struct addr_location *al, 1212 int max_stack_depth, void *arg) 1213 { 1214 int err, err2; 1215 struct map *alm = NULL; 1216 1217 if (al) 1218 alm = map__get(al->map); 1219 1220 err = sample__resolve_callchain(iter->sample, &callchain_cursor, &iter->parent, 1221 iter->evsel, al, max_stack_depth); 1222 if (err) { 1223 map__put(alm); 1224 return err; 1225 } 1226 1227 err = iter->ops->prepare_entry(iter, al); 1228 if (err) 1229 goto out; 1230 1231 err = iter->ops->add_single_entry(iter, al); 1232 if (err) 1233 goto out; 1234 That al at line 1221 is what hist_entry_iter__add() (called from sample__resolve_callchain()) saw as 'root_al', and then: iter->ops->add_single_entry(iter, al); will go on with al->srcline with a bogus value, I'll add the above sequence to the cset and apply, thanks! commit 1f3e2e9 upstream. The cmtp_add_connection() would add a cmtp session to a controller and run a kernel thread to process cmtp. __module_get(THIS_MODULE); session->task = kthread_run(cmtp_session, session, "kcmtpd_ctr_%d", session->num); During this process, the kernel thread would call detach_capi_ctr() to detach a register controller. if the controller was not attached yet, detach_capi_ctr() would trigger an array-index-out-bounds bug. Fix this problem by adding the BH locking around napi-schedule(), in the same way it was done in commit e63052a ("mlx5e: add add missing BH locking around napi_schdule()"). Its commit log provides the following explanation: "It's not correct to call napi_schedule() in pure process context. Because we use __raise_softirq_irqoff() we require callers to be in a context which will eventually lead to softirq handling (hardirq, bh disabled, etc.). With code as is users will see: NOHZ tick-stop error: Non-RCU local softirq work is pending, handler #8!!! [ Upstream commit c1833c3 ] The "__ip6_tnl_parm" struct was left uninitialized causing an invalid load of random data when the "__ip6_tnl_parm" struct was used elsewhere. As an example, in the function "ip6_tnl_xmit_ctl()", it tries to access the "collect_md" member. With "__ip6_tnl_parm" being uninitialized and containing random data, the UBSAN detected that "collect_md" held a non-boolean value. However if we had a pending balance waiting to get the ->cleaner_mutex, and a snapshot deletion was running, and then the box crashed, we would come up in a state where we have a half deleted snapshot. Again, in the normal case the snapshot deletion needs to complete before relocation can start, but in this case relocation could very well start before the snapshot deletion completes, as we simply add the root to the dead roots list and wait for the next time the cleaner runs to clean up the snapshot. Fix this by setting a bit on the fs_info if we have any DEAD_ROOT's that had a pending drop_progress key. If they do then we know we were in the middle of the drop operation and set a flag on the fs_info. Then balance can wait until this flag is cleared to start up again. If there are DEAD_ROOT's that don't have a drop_progress set then we're safe to start balance right away as we'll be properly protected by the cleaner_mutex. [ Upstream commit fe2640b ] In remove_phb_dynamic() we use &phb->io_resource, after we've called device_unregister(&host_bridge->dev). But the unregister may have freed phb, because pcibios_free_controller_deferred() is the release function for the host_bridge. If there are no outstanding references when we call device_unregister() then phb will be freed out from under us. This has gone mainly unnoticed, but with slub_debug and page_poison enabled it can lead to a crash: PID: 7574 TASK: c0000000d492cb80 CPU: 13 COMMAND: "drmgr" #0 [c0000000e4f075a0] crash_kexec at c00000000027d7dc #1 [c0000000e4f075d0] oops_end at c000000000029608 #2 [c0000000e4f07650] __bad_page_fault at c0000000000904b4 #3 [c0000000e4f076c0] do_bad_slb_fault at c00000000009a5a8 #4 [c0000000e4f076f0] data_access_slb_common_virt at c000000000008b30 Data SLB Access [380] exception frame: R0: c000000000167250 R1: c0000000e4f07a00 R2: c000000002a46100 R3: c000000002b39ce8 R4: 00000000000000c0 R5: 00000000000000a9 R6: 3894674d000000c0 R7: 0000000000000000 R8: 00000000000000ff R9: 0000000000000100 R10: 6b6b6b6b6b6b6b6b R11: 0000000000008000 R12: c00000000023da80 R13: c0000009ffd38b00 R14: 0000000000000000 R15: 000000011c87f0f0 R16: 0000000000000006 R17: 0000000000000003 R18: 0000000000000002 R19: 0000000000000004 R20: 0000000000000005 R21: 000000011c87ede8 R22: 000000011c87c5a8 R23: 000000011c87d3a0 R24: 0000000000000000 R25: 0000000000000001 R26: c0000000e4f07cc8 R27: c00000004d1cc400 R28: c0080000031d00e8 R29: c00000004d23d800 R30: c00000004d1d2400 R31: c00000004d1d2540 NIP: c000000000167258 MSR: 8000000000009033 OR3: c000000000e9f474 CTR: 0000000000000000 LR: c000000000167250 XER: 0000000020040003 CCR: 0000000024088420 MQ: 0000000000000000 DAR: 6b6b6b6b6b6b6ba3 DSISR: c0000000e4f07920 Syscall Result: fffffffffffffff2 [NIP : release_resource+56] [LR : release_resource+48] #5 [c0000000e4f07a00] release_resource at c000000000167258 (unreliable) #6 [c0000000e4f07a30] remove_phb_dynamic at c000000000105648 #7 [c0000000e4f07ab0] dlpar_remove_slot at c0080000031a09e8 [rpadlpar_io] #8 [c0000000e4f07b50] remove_slot_store at c0080000031a0b9c [rpadlpar_io] #9 [c0000000e4f07be0] kobj_attr_store at c000000000817d8c #10 [c0000000e4f07c00] sysfs_kf_write at c00000000063e504 #11 [c0000000e4f07c20] kernfs_fop_write_iter at c00000000063d868 #12 [c0000000e4f07c70] new_sync_write at c00000000054339c #13 [c0000000e4f07d10] vfs_write at c000000000546624 #14 [c0000000e4f07d60] ksys_write at c0000000005469f4 #15 [c0000000e4f07db0] system_call_exception at c000000000030840 #16 [c0000000e4f07e10] system_call_vectored_common at c00000000000c168 To avoid it, we can take a reference to the host_bridge->dev until we're done using phb. [ Upstream commit 4503cc7 ] Do not allow to write timestamps on RX rings if PF is being configured. When PF is being configured RX rings can be freed or rebuilt. If at the same time timestamps are updated, the kernel will crash by dereferencing null RX ring pointer. commit 59c026c upstream. When use 'echo c > /proc/sysrq-trigger' to trigger kdump, riscv_crash_save_regs() will be called to save regs for vmcore, we found "epc" value 00ffffffa5537400 is not a valid kernel virtual address, but is a user virtual address. Other regs(eg, ra, sp, gp...) are correct kernel virtual address. Actually 0x00ffffffb0dd9400 is the user mode PC of 'PID: 113 Comm: sh', which is saved in the task's stack. [ Upstream commit 9136a39 ] The per-channel data is available directly in the driver data struct. So use it without making use of pwm_[gs]et_chip_data(). The relevant change introduced by this patch to lpc18xx_pwm_disable() at the assembler level (for an arm lpc18xx_defconfig build) is: push {r3, r4, r5, lr} mov r4, r0 mov r0, r1 mov r5, r1 bl 0 <pwm_get_chip_data> ldr r3, [r0, #0] changes to ldr r3, [r1, #8] push {r4, lr} add.w r3, r0, r3, lsl #2 ldr r3, [r3, #92] ; 0x5c So this reduces stack usage, has an improved runtime behavior because of better pipeline usage, doesn't branch to an external function and the generated code is a bit smaller occupying less memory. The codesize of lpc18xx_pwm_probe() is reduced by 32 bytes. …ace is dead commit c3b0f72 upstream. ftrace_startup does not remove ops from ftrace_ops_list when ftrace_startup_enable fails: register_ftrace_function ftrace_startup __register_ftrace_function ... add_ftrace_ops(&ftrace_ops_list, ops) ... ... ftrace_startup_enable // if ftrace failed to modify, ftrace_disabled is set to 1 ... return 0 // ops is in the ftrace_ops_list. When ftrace_disabled = 1, unregister_ftrace_function simply returns without doing anything: unregister_ftrace_function ftrace_shutdown if (unlikely(ftrace_disabled)) return -ENODEV; // return here, __unregister_ftrace_function is not executed, // as a result, ops is still in the ftrace_ops_list __unregister_ftrace_function ... If ops is dynamically allocated, it will be free later, in this case, is_ftrace_trampoline accesses NULL pointer: is_ftrace_trampoline ftrace_ops_trampoline do_for_each_ftrace_op(op, ftrace_ops_list) // OOPS! op may be NULL! Syzkaller reports as follows: [ 1203.506103] BUG: kernel NULL pointer dereference, address: 000000000000010b [ 1203.508039] #PF: supervisor read access in kernel mode [ 1203.508798] #PF: error_code(0x0000) - not-present page [ 1203.509558] PGD 800000011660b067 P4D 800000011660b067 PUD 130fb8067 PMD 0 [ 1203.510560] Oops: 0000 [truenas#1] SMP KASAN PTI [ 1203.511189] CPU: 6 PID: 29532 Comm: syz-executor.2 Tainted: G B W 5.10.0 truenas#8 [ 1203.512324] Hardware name: QEMU Standard PC (i440FX + PIIX, 1996), BIOS rel-1.14.0-0-g155821a1990b-prebuilt.qemu.org 04/01/2014 [ 1203.513895] RIP: 0010:is_ftrace_trampoline+0x26/0xb0 [ 1203.514644] Code: ff eb d3 90 41 55 41 54 49 89 fc 55 53 e8 f2 00 fd ff 48 8b 1d 3b 35 5d 03 e8 e6 00 fd ff 48 8d bb 90 00 00 00 e8 2a 81 26 00 <48> 8b ab 90 00 00 00 48 85 ed 74 1d e8 c9 00 fd ff 48 8d bb 98 00 [ 1203.518838] RSP: 0018:ffffc900012cf960 EFLAGS: 00010246 [ 1203.520092] RAX: 0000000000000000 RBX: 000000000000007b RCX: ffffffff8a331866 [ 1203.521469] RDX: 0000000000000000 RSI: 0000000000000008 RDI: 000000000000010b [ 1203.522583] RBP: 0000000000000000 R08: 0000000000000000 R09: ffffffff8df18b07 [ 1203.523550] R10: fffffbfff1be3160 R11: 0000000000000001 R12: 0000000000478399 [ 1203.524596] R13: 0000000000000000 R14: ffff888145088000 R15: 0000000000000008 [ 1203.525634] FS: 00007f429f5f4700(0000) GS:ffff8881daf00000(0000) knlGS:0000000000000000 [ 1203.526801] CS: 0010 DS: 0000 ES: 0000 CR0: 0000000080050033 [ 1203.527626] CR2: 000000000000010b CR3: 0000000170e1e001 CR4: 00000000003706e0 [ 1203.528611] DR0: 0000000000000000 DR1: 0000000000000000 DR2: 0000000000000000 [ 1203.529605] DR3: 0000000000000000 DR6: 00000000fffe0ff0 DR7: 0000000000000400 Therefore, when ftrace_startup_enable fails, we need to rollback registration process and remove ops from ftrace_ops_list. commit d8b90d6 upstream. When scanning namespaces, it is possible to get valid data from the first call to nvme_identify_ns() in nvme_alloc_ns(), but not from the second call in nvme_update_ns_info_block(). In particular, if the NSID becomes inactive between the two commands, a storage device may return a buffer filled with zero as per 4.1.5.1. In this case, we can get a kernel crash due to a divide-by-zero in blk_stack_limits() because ns->lba_shift will be set to zero. commit 4be9075 upstream. The driver creates /sys/kernel/debug/dri/0/mob_ttm even when the corresponding ttm_resource_manager is not allocated. This leads to a crash when trying to read from this file. Add a check to create mob_ttm, system_mob_ttm, and gmr_ttm debug file only when the corresponding ttm_resource_manager is allocated. crash> bt PID: 3133409 TASK: ffff8fe4834a5000 CPU: 3 COMMAND: "grep" #0 [ffffb954506b3b20] machine_kexec at ffffffffb2a6bec3 truenas#1 [ffffb954506b3b78] __crash_kexec at ffffffffb2bb598a truenas#2 [ffffb954506b3c38] crash_kexec at ffffffffb2bb68c1 truenas#3 [ffffb954506b3c50] oops_end at ffffffffb2a2a9b1 truenas#4 [ffffb954506b3c70] no_context at ffffffffb2a7e913 truenas#5 [ffffb954506b3cc8] __bad_area_nosemaphore at ffffffffb2a7ec8c truenas#6 [ffffb954506b3d10] do_page_fault at ffffffffb2a7f887 truenas#7 [ffffb954506b3d40] page_fault at ffffffffb360116e [exception RIP: ttm_resource_manager_debug+0x11] RIP: ffffffffc04afd11 RSP: ffffb954506b3df0 RFLAGS: 00010246 RAX: ffff8fe41a6d1200 RBX: 0000000000000000 RCX: 0000000000000940 RDX: 0000000000000000 RSI: ffffffffc04b4338 RDI: 0000000000000000 RBP: ffffb954506b3e08 R8: ffff8fee3ffad000 R9: 0000000000000000 R10: ffff8fe41a76a000 R11: 0000000000000001 R12: 00000000ffffffff R13: 0000000000000001 R14: ffff8fe5bb6f3900 R15: ffff8fe41a6d1200 ORIG_RAX: ffffffffffffffff CS: 0010 SS: 0018 truenas#8 [ffffb954506b3e00] ttm_resource_manager_show at ffffffffc04afde7 [ttm] truenas#9 [ffffb954506b3e30] seq_read at ffffffffb2d8f9f3 RIP: 00007f4c4eda8985 RSP: 00007ffdbba9e9f8 RFLAGS: 00000246 RAX: ffffffffffffffda RBX: 000000000037e000 RCX: 00007f4c4eda8985 RDX: 000000000037e000 RSI: 00007f4c41573000 RDI: 0000000000000003 RBP: 000000000037e000 R8: 0000000000000000 R9: 000000000037fe30 R10: 0000000000000000 R11: 0000000000000246 R12: 00007f4c41573000 R13: 0000000000000003 R14: 00007f4c41572010 R15: 0000000000000003 ORIG_RAX: 0000000000000000 CS: 0033 SS: 002b Signed-off-by: Jocelyn Falempe <[email protected]> Fixes: af4a25b ("drm/vmwgfx: Add debugfs entries for various ttm resource managers") Cc: <[email protected]> Reviewed-by: Zack Rusin <[email protected]> Link: https://patchwork.freedesktop.org/patch/msgid/[email protected] Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <[email protected]>

commit 4be9075 upstream. The driver creates /sys/kernel/debug/dri/0/mob_ttm even when the corresponding ttm_resource_manager is not allocated. This leads to a crash when trying to read from this file. Add a check to create mob_ttm, system_mob_ttm, and gmr_ttm debug file only when the corresponding ttm_resource_manager is allocated. crash> bt PID: 3133409 TASK: ffff8fe4834a5000 CPU: 3 COMMAND: "grep" #0 [ffffb954506b3b20] machine_kexec at ffffffffb2a6bec3 #1 [ffffb954506b3b78] __crash_kexec at ffffffffb2bb598a #2 [ffffb954506b3c38] crash_kexec at ffffffffb2bb68c1 #3 [ffffb954506b3c50] oops_end at ffffffffb2a2a9b1 #4 [ffffb954506b3c70] no_context at ffffffffb2a7e913 #5 [ffffb954506b3cc8] __bad_area_nosemaphore at ffffffffb2a7ec8c #6 [ffffb954506b3d10] do_page_fault at ffffffffb2a7f887 #7 [ffffb954506b3d40] page_fault at ffffffffb360116e [exception RIP: ttm_resource_manager_debug+0x11] RIP: ffffffffc04afd11 RSP: ffffb954506b3df0 RFLAGS: 00010246 RAX: ffff8fe41a6d1200 RBX: 0000000000000000 RCX: 0000000000000940 RDX: 0000000000000000 RSI: ffffffffc04b4338 RDI: 0000000000000000 RBP: ffffb954506b3e08 R8: ffff8fee3ffad000 R9: 0000000000000000 R10: ffff8fe41a76a000 R11: 0000000000000001 R12: 00000000ffffffff R13: 0000000000000001 R14: ffff8fe5bb6f3900 R15: ffff8fe41a6d1200 ORIG_RAX: ffffffffffffffff CS: 0010 SS: 0018 #8 [ffffb954506b3e00] ttm_resource_manager_show at ffffffffc04afde7 [ttm] #9 [ffffb954506b3e30] seq_read at ffffffffb2d8f9f3 RIP: 00007f4c4eda8985 RSP: 00007ffdbba9e9f8 RFLAGS: 00000246 RAX: ffffffffffffffda RBX: 000000000037e000 RCX: 00007f4c4eda8985 RDX: 000000000037e000 RSI: 00007f4c41573000 RDI: 0000000000000003 RBP: 000000000037e000 R8: 0000000000000000 R9: 000000000037fe30 R10: 0000000000000000 R11: 0000000000000246 R12: 00007f4c41573000 R13: 0000000000000003 R14: 00007f4c41572010 R15: 0000000000000003 ORIG_RAX: 0000000000000000 CS: 0033 SS: 002b Signed-off-by: Jocelyn Falempe <[email protected]> Fixes: af4a25b ("drm/vmwgfx: Add debugfs entries for various ttm resource managers") Cc: <[email protected]> Reviewed-by: Zack Rusin <[email protected]> Link: https://patchwork.freedesktop.org/patch/msgid/[email protected] Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <[email protected]>

[ Upstream commit ffbf4fb ] When CONFIG_DEBUG_BUGVERBOSE=n, we fail to add necessary padding bytes to bug_table entries, and as a result the last entry in a bug table will be ignored, potentially leading to an unexpected panic(). All prior entries in the table will be handled correctly. The arm64 ABI requires that struct fields of up to 8 bytes are naturally-aligned, with padding added within a struct such that struct are suitably aligned within arrays. When CONFIG_DEBUG_BUGVERPOSE=y, the layout of a bug_entry is: struct bug_entry { signed int bug_addr_disp; // 4 bytes signed int file_disp; // 4 bytes unsigned short line; // 2 bytes unsigned short flags; // 2 bytes } ... with 12 bytes total, requiring 4-byte alignment. When CONFIG_DEBUG_BUGVERBOSE=n, the layout of a bug_entry is: struct bug_entry { signed int bug_addr_disp; // 4 bytes unsigned short flags; // 2 bytes < implicit padding > // 2 bytes } ... with 8 bytes total, with 6 bytes of data and 2 bytes of trailing padding, requiring 4-byte alginment. When we create a bug_entry in assembly, we align the start of the entry to 4 bytes, which implicitly handles padding for any prior entries. However, we do not align the end of the entry, and so when CONFIG_DEBUG_BUGVERBOSE=n, the final entry lacks the trailing padding bytes. For the main kernel image this is not a problem as find_bug() doesn't depend on the trailing padding bytes when searching for entries: for (bug = __start___bug_table; bug < __stop___bug_table; ++bug) if (bugaddr == bug_addr(bug)) return bug; However for modules, module_bug_finalize() depends on the trailing bytes when calculating the number of entries: mod->num_bugs = sechdrs[i].sh_size / sizeof(struct bug_entry); ... and as the last bug_entry lacks the necessary padding bytes, this entry will not be counted, e.g. in the case of a single entry: sechdrs[i].sh_size == 6 sizeof(struct bug_entry) == 8; sechdrs[i].sh_size / sizeof(struct bug_entry) == 0; Consequently module_find_bug() will miss the last bug_entry when it does: for (i = 0; i < mod->num_bugs; ++i, ++bug) if (bugaddr == bug_addr(bug)) goto out; ... which can lead to a kenrel panic due to an unhandled bug. This can be demonstrated with the following module: static int __init buginit(void) { WARN(1, "hello\n"); return 0; } static void __exit bugexit(void) { } module_init(buginit); module_exit(bugexit); MODULE_LICENSE("GPL"); ... which will trigger a kernel panic when loaded: ------------[ cut here ]------------ hello Unexpected kernel BRK exception at EL1 Internal error: BRK handler: 00000000f2000800 [truenas#1] PREEMPT SMP Modules linked in: hello(O+) CPU: 0 PID: 50 Comm: insmod Tainted: G O 6.9.1 truenas#8 Hardware name: linux,dummy-virt (DT) pstate: 60400005 (nZCv daif +PAN -UAO -TCO -DIT -SSBS BTYPE=--) pc : buginit+0x18/0x1000 [hello] lr : buginit+0x18/0x1000 [hello] sp : ffff800080533ae0 x29: ffff800080533ae0 x28: 0000000000000000 x27: 0000000000000000 x26: ffffaba8c4e70510 x25: ffff800080533c30 x24: ffffaba8c4a28a58 x23: 0000000000000000 x22: 0000000000000000 x21: ffff3947c0eab3c0 x20: ffffaba8c4e3f000 x19: ffffaba846464000 x18: 0000000000000006 x17: 0000000000000000 x16: ffffaba8c2492834 x15: 0720072007200720 x14: 0720072007200720 x13: ffffaba8c49b27c8 x12: 0000000000000312 x11: 0000000000000106 x10: ffffaba8c4a0a7c8 x9 : ffffaba8c49b27c8 x8 : 00000000ffffefff x7 : ffffaba8c4a0a7c8 x6 : 80000000fffff000 x5 : 0000000000000107 x4 : 0000000000000000 x3 : 0000000000000000 x2 : 0000000000000000 x1 : 0000000000000000 x0 : ffff3947c0eab3c0 Call trace: buginit+0x18/0x1000 [hello] do_one_initcall+0x80/0x1c8 do_init_module+0x60/0x218 load_module+0x1ba4/0x1d70 __do_sys_init_module+0x198/0x1d0 __arm64_sys_init_module+0x1c/0x28 invoke_syscall+0x48/0x114 el0_svc_common.constprop.0+0x40/0xe0 do_el0_svc+0x1c/0x28 el0_svc+0x34/0xd8 el0t_64_sync_handler+0x120/0x12c el0t_64_sync+0x190/0x194 Code: d0ffffe0 910003fd 91000000 9400000b (d4210000) ---[ end trace 0000000000000000 ]--- Kernel panic - not syncing: BRK handler: Fatal exception Fix this by always aligning the end of a bug_entry to 4 bytes, which is correct regardless of CONFIG_DEBUG_BUGVERBOSE. Furthermore, item 183 is the last item in the leaf. btrfs_log_prealloc_extents() is responsible for logging prealloc extents beyond i_size. It first truncates any previously logged prealloc extents that start beyond i_size. Then, it walks the filesystem tree and copies the prealloc extent items to the log tree. If it hits the end of a leaf, then it calls btrfs_next_leaf(), which unlocks the tree and does another search. However, while the filesystem tree is unlocked, an ordered extent completion may modify the tree. In particular, it may insert an extent item that overlaps with an extent item that was already copied to the log tree. This may manifest in several ways depending on the exact scenario, including an EEXIST error that is silently translated to a full sync, overlapping items in the log tree, or this crash. This particular crash is triggered by the following sequence of events: - Initially, the file has i_size=4k, a regular extent from 0-4k, and a prealloc extent beyond i_size from 4k-12k. The prealloc extent item is the last item in its B-tree leaf. - The file is fsync'd, which copies its inode item and both extent items to the log tree. - An xattr is set on the file, which sets the BTRFS_INODE_COPY_EVERYTHING flag. - The range 4k-8k in the file is written using direct I/O. i_size is extended to 8k, but the ordered extent is still in flight. - The file is fsync'd. Since BTRFS_INODE_COPY_EVERYTHING is set, this calls copy_inode_items_to_log(), which calls btrfs_log_prealloc_extents(). - btrfs_log_prealloc_extents() finds the 4k-12k prealloc extent in the filesystem tree. Since it starts before i_size, it skips it. Since it is the last item in its B-tree leaf, it calls btrfs_next_leaf(). - btrfs_next_leaf() unlocks the path. - The ordered extent completion runs, which converts the 4k-8k part of the prealloc extent to written and inserts the remaining prealloc part from 8k-12k. - btrfs_next_leaf() does a search and finds the new prealloc extent 8k-12k. - btrfs_log_prealloc_extents() copies the 8k-12k prealloc extent into the log tree. Note that it overlaps with the 4k-12k prealloc extent that was copied to the log tree by the first fsync. - fsync calls btrfs_log_changed_extents(), which tries to log the 4k-8k extent that was written. - This tries to drop the range 4k-8k in the log tree, which requires adjusting the start of the 4k-12k prealloc extent in the log tree to 8k. - btrfs_set_item_key_safe() sees that there is already an extent starting at 8k in the log tree and calls BUG(). Fix this by detecting when we're about to insert an overlapping file extent item in the log tree and truncating the part that would overlap. commit be346c1 upstream. The code in ocfs2_dio_end_io_write() estimates number of necessary transaction credits using ocfs2_calc_extend_credits(). This however does not take into account that the IO could be arbitrarily large and can contain arbitrary number of extents. Extent tree manipulations do often extend the current transaction but not in all of the cases. For example if we have only single block extents in the tree, ocfs2_mark_extent_written() will end up calling ocfs2_replace_extent_rec() all the time and we will never extend the current transaction and eventually exhaust all the transaction credits if the IO contains many single block extents. Once that happens a WARN_ON(jbd2_handle_buffer_credits(handle) <= 0) is triggered in jbd2_journal_dirty_metadata() and subsequently OCFS2 aborts in response to this error. This was actually triggered by one of our customers on a heavily fragmented OCFS2 filesystem. To fix the issue make sure the transaction always has enough credits for one extent insert before each call of ocfs2_mark_extent_written(). [ Upstream commit 86a41ea ] When l2tp tunnels use a socket provided by userspace, we can hit lockdep splats like the below when data is transmitted through another (unrelated) userspace socket which then gets routed over l2tp. This issue was previously discussed here: https://lore.kernel.org/netdev/[email protected]/ The solution is to have lockdep treat socket locks of l2tp tunnel sockets separately than those of standard INET sockets. To do so, use a different lockdep subclass where lock nesting is possible. ============================================ WARNING: possible recursive locking detected 6.10.0+ truenas#34 Not tainted -------------------------------------------- iperf3/771 is trying to acquire lock: ffff8881027601d8 (slock-AF_INET/1){+.-.}-{2:2}, at: l2tp_xmit_skb+0x243/0x9d0 but task is already holding lock: ffff888102650d98 (slock-AF_INET/1){+.-.}-{2:2}, at: tcp_v4_rcv+0x1848/0x1e10 other info that might help us debug this: Possible unsafe locking scenario: CPU0 ---- lock(slock-AF_INET/1); lock(slock-AF_INET/1); *** DEADLOCK *** May be due to missing lock nesting notation 10 locks held by iperf3/771: #0: ffff888102650258 (sk_lock-AF_INET){+.+.}-{0:0}, at: tcp_sendmsg+0x1a/0x40 truenas#1: ffffffff822ac220 (rcu_read_lock){....}-{1:2}, at: __ip_queue_xmit+0x4b/0xbc0 truenas#2: ffffffff822ac220 (rcu_read_lock){....}-{1:2}, at: ip_finish_output2+0x17a/0x1130 truenas#3: ffffffff822ac220 (rcu_read_lock){....}-{1:2}, at: process_backlog+0x28b/0x9f0 truenas#4: ffffffff822ac220 (rcu_read_lock){....}-{1:2}, at: ip_local_deliver_finish+0xf9/0x260 truenas#5: ffff888102650d98 (slock-AF_INET/1){+.-.}-{2:2}, at: tcp_v4_rcv+0x1848/0x1e10 truenas#6: ffffffff822ac220 (rcu_read_lock){....}-{1:2}, at: __ip_queue_xmit+0x4b/0xbc0 truenas#7: ffffffff822ac220 (rcu_read_lock){....}-{1:2}, at: ip_finish_output2+0x17a/0x1130 truenas#8: ffffffff822ac1e0 (rcu_read_lock_bh){....}-{1:2}, at: __dev_queue_xmit+0xcc/0x1450 truenas#9: ffff888101f33258 (dev->qdisc_tx_busylock ?: &qdisc_tx_busylock#2){+...}-{2:2}, at: __dev_queue_xmit+0x513/0x1450 stack backtrace: CPU: 2 UID: 0 PID: 771 Comm: iperf3 Not tainted 6.10.0+ truenas#34 Hardware name: QEMU Standard PC (i440FX + PIIX, 1996), BIOS 1.15.0-1 04/01/2014 Call Trace: <IRQ> dump_stack_lvl+0x69/0xa0 dump_stack+0xc/0x20 __lock_acquire+0x135d/0x2600 ? When creating a trace_probe we would set nr_args prior to truncating the arguments to MAX_TRACE_ARGS. However, we would only initialize arguments up to the limit. So the nfs4_copy_state address ffff0100f98fa3f0 was offset by 0x10 and the data accessed through this pointer was also incorrect. Generally, the ordered list nfs4_state_owner->so_states indicate open(O_RDWR) or open(O_WRITE) states are reclaimed firstly by nfs4_reclaim_open_state(). When destination state reclaim is failed with NFS_STATE_RECOVERY_FAILED and copies are not deleted in nfs_server->ss_copies, the source state may be passed to the nfs42_complete_copies() process earlier, resulting in this crash scene finally. To solve this issue, we add a list_head nfs_server->ss_src_copies for a server-to-server copy specially. The referenced commits introduced a two-step process for deleting FTEs: - Lock the FTE, delete it from hardware, set the hardware deletion function to NULL and unlock the FTE. - Lock the parent flow group, delete the software copy of the FTE, and remove it from the xarray. However, this approach encounters a race condition if a rule with the same match value is added simultaneously. In this scenario, fs_core may set the hardware deletion function to NULL prematurely, causing a panic during subsequent rule deletions. Here try to reuse nvme_rdma_teardown_admin_queue() to fix this issue and simplify the code. [ Upstream commit 88a6e2f67cc94f751a74409ab4c21e5fc8ea6757 ] Its used from trace__run(), for the 'perf trace' live mode, i.e. its strace-like, non-perf.data file processing mode, the most common one. The trace__run() function will set trace->host using machine__new_host() that is supposed to give a machine instance representing the running machine, and since we'll use perf_env__arch_strerrno() to get the right errno -> string table, we need to use machine->env, so initialize it in machine__new_host(). Before the patch: (gdb) run trace --errno-summary -a sleep 1 <SNIP> Summary of events: gvfs-afc-volume (3187), 2 events, 0.0% syscall calls errors total min avg max stddev (msec) (msec) (msec) (msec) (%) --------------- -------- ------ -------- --------- --------- --------- ------ pselect6 1 0 0.000 0.000 0.000 0.000 0.00% GUsbEventThread (3519), 2 events, 0.0% syscall calls errors total min avg max stddev (msec) (msec) (msec) (msec) (%) --------------- -------- ------ -------- --------- --------- --------- ------ poll 1 0 0.000 0.000 0.000 0.000 0.00% <SNIP> Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault. 0x00000000005caba0 in perf_env__arch_strerrno (env=0x0, err=110) at util/env.c:478 478 if (env->arch_strerrno == NULL) (gdb) bt #0 0x00000000005caba0 in perf_env__arch_strerrno (env=0x0, err=110) at util/env.c:478 truenas#1 0x00000000004b75d2 in thread__dump_stats (ttrace=0x14f58f0, trace=0x7fffffffa5b0, fp=0x7ffff6ff74e0 <_IO_2_1_stderr_>) at builtin-trace.c:4673 truenas#2 0x00000000004b78bf in trace__fprintf_thread (fp=0x7ffff6ff74e0 <_IO_2_1_stderr_>, thread=0x10fa0b0, trace=0x7fffffffa5b0) at builtin-trace.c:4708 truenas#3 0x00000000004b7ad9 in trace__fprintf_thread_summary (trace=0x7fffffffa5b0, fp=0x7ffff6ff74e0 <_IO_2_1_stderr_>) at builtin-trace.c:4747 truenas#4 0x00000000004b656e in trace__run (trace=0x7fffffffa5b0, argc=2, argv=0x7fffffffde60) at builtin-trace.c:4456 truenas#5 0x00000000004ba43e in cmd_trace (argc=2, argv=0x7fffffffde60) at builtin-trace.c:5487 truenas#6 0x00000000004c0414 in run_builtin (p=0xec3068 <commands+648>, argc=5, argv=0x7fffffffde60) at perf.c:351 truenas#7 0x00000000004c06bb in handle_internal_command (argc=5, argv=0x7fffffffde60) at perf.c:404 truenas#8 0x00000000004c0814 in run_argv (argcp=0x7fffffffdc4c, argv=0x7fffffffdc40) at perf.c:448 truenas#9 0x00000000004c0b5d in main (argc=5, argv=0x7fffffffde60) at perf.c:560 (gdb) After: root@number:~# perf trace -a --errno-summary sleep 1 <SNIP> pw-data-loop (2685), 1410 events, 16.0% syscall calls errors total min avg max stddev (msec) (msec) (msec) (msec) (%) --------------- -------- ------ -------- --------- --------- --------- ------ epoll_wait 188 0 983.428 0.000 5.231 15.595 8.68% ioctl 94 0 0.811 0.004 0.009 0.016 2.82% read 188 0 0.322 0.001 0.002 0.006 5.15% write 141 0 0.280 0.001 0.002 0.018 8.39% timerfd_settime 94 0 0.138 0.001 0.001 0.007 6.47% gnome-control-c (179406), 1848 events, 20.9% syscall calls errors total min avg max stddev (msec) (msec) (msec) (msec) (%) --------------- -------- ------ -------- --------- --------- --------- ------ poll 222 0 959.577 0.000 4.322 21.414 11.40% recvmsg 150 0 0.539 0.001 0.004 0.013 5.12% write 300 0 0.442 0.001 0.001 0.007 3.29% read 150 0 0.183 0.001 0.001 0.009 5.53% getpid 102 0 0.101 0.000 0.001 0.008 7.82% root@number:~# Fixes: 54373b5 ("perf env: Introduce perf_env__arch_strerrno()") Reported-by: Veronika Molnarova <[email protected]> Signed-off-by: Arnaldo Carvalho de Melo <[email protected]> Acked-by: Veronika Molnarova <[email protected]> Acked-by: Michael Petlan <[email protected]> Tested-by: Michael Petlan <[email protected]> Link: https://lore.kernel.org/r/Z0XffUgNSv_9OjOi@x1 Signed-off-by: Namhyung Kim <[email protected]> Signed-off-by: Sasha Levin <[email protected]>
