Removal of SVG rect elements with zero or omitted width/height when CSS is used

Is there an option to suppress the removal of SVG rect elements with zero or omitted width/height when CSS is used for styling? I have a use case in which the dimensions are defined using CSS selectors and the width/height attributes are omitted. Removal of the rect elements is not desirable in this setting.
