Bank Loan Report Analysis

Problem Statement

As a financial institution, understanding the dynamics of our loan portfolio is crucial for making informed decisions. We need a comprehensive dashboard to analyze key metrics related to loan applications, disbursements, repayments, and borrower profiles. This will help us assess the health of our lending operations, identify trends, and optimize our strategies for risk management and profitability.

Steps followed

1. Summary Overview (Page 1)

image

  • Calculated and visualized key performance indicators (KPIs) such as total loan applications, funded amount, amount received, average interest rate, and average debt-to-income ratio.

  • Segregated loan applications into 'Good Loan' and 'Bad Loan' categories, highlighting their respective percentages, counts, funded amounts, and received amounts.

  • Presented a loan status grid view to categorize loans based on their status and provide insights into various metrics.

2. Overview of Loan Trends (Page 2)

image

  • Analysed monthly trends in loan applications using a line chart to identify seasonality and long-term patterns.
  • Conducted a regional analysis by state using a filled map to identify areas with significant lending activity and regional disparities.
  • Visualized the distribution of loans across different term lengths and employment lengths using donut charts and bar charts.
  • Examined the breakdown of loan purposes and home ownership status to understand borrower preferences and behaviors.

3. Details Dashboard (Page 3)

image

  • Created a comprehensive grid table providing a consolidated view of all essential loan-related metrics and data points.
  • Aimed to offer users a user-friendly interface for accessing detailed insights into the loan portfolio, borrower profiles, and loan performance.

Key Insights

  • The analysis reveals fluctuations in loan application volumes and funded amounts over time, suggesting potential seasonal trends.
  • Regional disparities in lending activity highlight opportunities for targeted marketing or risk management strategies.
  • Understanding the distribution of loan terms, employment lengths, purposes, and home ownership status provides valuable insights into borrower behaviour and preferences.
  • Categorizing loans based on their status enables quick identification of potential risks or opportunities for intervention.

Conclusion

The dashboard provides a comprehensive overview of our lending operations, empowering stakeholders to make data-driven decisions. By analyzing key metrics and trends, we can optimize our lending strategies, mitigate risks, and enhance the overall performance of our loan portfolio. Further iterations of the dashboard may include predictive analytics or advanced visualizations to deepen insights and drive actionable outcomes.
