New Features

  • Expensive screen-space Ambient Occlusion (OFF by default)
  • Experimental replacement of warm_glow material (needs testing compatibility with texture packs)

Changes

  • Alpha blending now occurs in low dynamic range. Affects the color of water, makes dark colored stained glass look accurate
  • Water foam effect has been tweaked accordingly
  • When underwater, the sky is replaced by 100% fog color
  • When underwater, the fog color above the water surface is unaffected by water fog
  • Particles and rain are excluded from reflection to reduce noise
  • The brightness of block light is lowered when the player is standing in sunlight
  • Night fog brightness is reduced
  • Improve vanilla parity for enchantment glint
  • [Technical] Normal buffer now now goes to the negative range of float

Fixes

  • Fix Nether fog (since v0.40-snapshot8)
  • Fix broken lava fog (since v0.40-snapshot8)
  • End portal fix is improved, but it's no longer required in the next Canvas release
  • Since v0.40-snapshot1 or older:
    • Fix blindness effect
    • Fix missing vanilla End sky
    • Fix Fresnel influence on diffuse when opposite of light
    • Fix fog artifact on translucent layer when it's raining
    • Fix disparity of sky reflection behind translucent
    • Fix broken light reflection on water caused by corrupted normals
