Editing a query combobox is currently not possible in Specify 7.

I've updated the Specify 6 vs. 7 comparison as well to include this capability. I've added you as a requestor for this feature: #1321– it is not currently considered a "dependency" (or necessary to support before moving entirely to Specify 7). Since the display can be controlled by the table format, it simplifies the configuration. Configuring search columns is something we plan to support moving forward.
