This is a fixed fix to my previous fix that fixes the metadata display.
This one works better by not introducing gigantic, glaring errors into the code.
Additionally, I carried forward the old comment which still explains why we sometimes have to drill into the 'value' attribute.
Just to be completely certain, I'm going to try and do some testing to force the weird 'value' attributes. I'm not entirely convinced that I've fully handled that.
