I've developed a Python program that extracts data from over 10,000 companies in the SEC's EDGAR database and exports it to Excel. It uses the official SEC API to retrieve financial reports such as 10-Q and 10-K filings, ideal for researchers and analysts needing quick access to bulk company data.

📄Overview

This program provides a graphical user interface (GUI) for searching and extracting financial data from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) EDGAR database. Users can filter companies by CIK, company name, or ticker, and export financial data directly to an Excel file. The data retrieved covers filings from the second quarter of 2009 to the most recent report.

🛑Known Issues and Limitations

  • The "User-Agent" must be valid to retrieve data; invalid user-agents will cause connection errors. A valid user-agent can be "[email protected]" or "<> name.surname@<>.com"
