mod_auth_remote explained via ascii art :)

  • user says get /foo on server_1
  • server_1 asks the user to supply username/passwd
  • user sends username,password to server_1, mod_auth_remote on server_1 now fwds these credentials to server_2 over normal http
  • server_2 replies with a 2xx code to server_1. server_1 grants permission to user
