record: capture a compilation test for current master

This is in contrast to the 1.7.x release, and is meant to be
representative of what will be in the 1.8.x release. Namely, this
includes the aho-corasick and regex-syntax updates. They seem to add a
tiny bit of extra compilation time and a bit of binary size.
