Lively can play online video streams as wallpaper (by default uses the browser.)
Try the following to switch to using mpv player:
- Download the latest version of yt-dlp.exe software.
- Close any running video wallpapers.
- Navigate to Lively install location.
-
For non-admin install:
C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Local\Programs\Lively Wallpaper\
-
For admin install:
C:\Program Files\Lively Wallpaper\
- Open
\plugins\mpv\
folder, renameyt-dlp.exe
toyoutube-dl.exe
and copy the file to this location. - Close and re-open Lively, navigate
Lively Settings -> Wallpaper > Stream
to adjustVideo Quality
and checkDetect Streams.
- Simply drag and drop the video website address into lively window to set as wallpaper.
This is mainly for live streams and will use internet data; for regular videos, it's better to download the file instead. If you face stability issues, switch to a downloaded video.
