Are you serious? The project's development is still going on, you never ever made a contribution and you are expecting to have a say about its future referring to an issue without answers (until some minutes ago) that's still open? Why on the world would you do that?

@ilovelinux
##Software listed here has become depreciated and development has ceased.
##They are therefore considered unsafe and it is highly recommended to avoid using them. This section is here purely for historical value.

@ohmynameisrico - IMHO that is the worst advice ever. Tox clearly states in its project description that Tox is NOT about making an anonymous messaging system. Ricochet is anonymous in a way Tox will never be. That the Ricochet binary is bundled with an old version of Tor does not make it unsafe per see, but again this is EXPERIMENTAL software. If you do not understand how experimental, you should stay far away from it. A sufficiently skilled advanced user is able to replace the bundled Tor binary with a newer version. But just because the development of this piece of software has been in a state of stall, does not make it unsafe.

I reached out to the author of the Ricochet section on that Tor wiki page and cleared things up. You're free to make judgments about development being stalled, and Ricochet's disclaimers are still in place (experimental, etc), but the "officially ended development" claim was incorrect and is factually false.

I'd close this ticket like the duplicate #579 seems that this guy ohmynameisrico is spending his time around privacytools.io and prism-break making a personal war against certain secure tools (including OTR) that he deems to be 'insecure', providing no evidence other than attempting to speak from authority.

There is more information about that here:
