uploading file to storage bucket (eg firebase)

hello,
im having a very hard time uploading the selected file from the file picker to a storage bucket such as firebase storage. I extract the uri from the response object, however I don't know how to use this uri to upload the file itself. when I try it, firebase doesn't interpret the file correctly.

what would be the best way to approach this?

Hey, thanks for replying. I appreciate it.
since I'm sending the document to firebase on the same page, I don't need the copy to option since I can already use the temporarily stored uri.
the problem is sending the document itself. do I need to convert it into a blob? for image pickers like expo-image-picker (https://github.com/expo/expo/tree/master/packages/expo-image-picker), it requires me to convert the image into a blob before sending it to firebase storage.

I'm afraid you need to use the copyTo option because how would you be able to upload a file from eg. dropbox to firebase if the file is not on the device? 🙂

I'm not 100% sure you need to use it on ios, but it seems necessary on android. Test it out on a real device and you'll see.
