Building Tool is a blender addon created with the purpose of simplifying and automating the process of creating building exteriors.
Building tool is aimed at providing value to :_
- Game Developers that need a quick way to create assets.
- Archvis specialists that need quick modular buildings for use in renders e.g as background.
- General 3D Artists that need assets to place in their scene for rendering still images or animations.
The development of building tools arised with the need to quickly create modular buildings for a game I was designing. Building tools was initially inspired by an addon for 3DS MAX called GhostTown
.
A lot has changed since then, I have drawn inspiration from other sources and the scope of the addon has grown. Hopefuly with this growth, Building Tool
will become an essential tool to an ever growing audience.
It's always exciting to think about the future.
The most important goal for building tool, is to be a stable smooth working product that users enjoy.
It is also my hope that building tool will nurture a community of both developers and artists that will allow it to grow beyond itself.
Finally, I would love to see building tool rise as a commercially successful open source project much like its parent Blender.
