Some categories certainly would apply, like visualisation or education, but for others like data processing (reduction?) terminology in astronomy is probably just different, so for the moment, and only 3 packages in, it might indeed be easiest to just hide them all.

sounds good @dhomeier !! We can always very easily add specific categories back if we want and label the buttons differently for astropy. That is easy. I appreciate all of the input. If you all find other issues with this page please continue to open issues here. I think that we will learn a lot as the package listing grows!

Thanks! Certainly will take some discussion to settle on our own set of categories, e.g. the classification by wavelength/energy domain @hamogu had in mind is rather orthogonal to my idea of sorting by data reduction/acquisition, analysis, fitting an modeling functionality etc. But of course we could perfectly well have orthogonal sets of categories. Will certainly become more evident once there are some more packages, and hopefully not several years until we have 40+!
