Problem

chip-tool supports --trace_log 0/1 argument to trace all messages, which enables building tests that rely on analysis of the traffic between an instance of chip-tool and any nodes.

This is not symmetrically implemented in the *-app examples, even though it easily could be. This would unblock tests such as those mentioned in #14397 and #14399.

Proposed Solution

  • Enable the same tracing code from chip-tool in *-app
