May I know which version of Windows you are using?
Also, have you tried with the JAR instead of the EXE?

With "the latest version of Java" you mean Java 17, right?

Same problem here in macOS Monterey with openjdk 19.0.1 after opening the .jar. The .app simply shows an error popup with "JRELoadError".

@moonlightKiR @MIGI10 could anyone let me know which version of Java is being taught in DPOO? Which version do the teachers of the class say students should install?

I think our teacher didn't recommend any version, I already had Java installed.

Hey again @MIGI10 @moonlightKiR, I would like to share the following information:

  • I have identified the issue (source).
  • This issue is present in Java versions 17 and later.
  • Fixing it is quite tricky/lengthy, it will take some time.

In the meanwhile, the problem can be mitigated by uninstalling Java 17 and instead installing Java 11. I would suggest downloading it from Azul (searching java azul on Google will lead you to it). I would be eternally grateful if you could help me spreading the word around while I develop a proper fix.

@MIGI10 @moonlightKiR I have fixed the issue. Please head over to Releases to get the v1.6.8 version.

Thanks for letting me know about the issue. Please let me know if 1.6.8 works fine or not, and please help me spreading the word around now that the fix is available. Ideally people doing compus will be able to use it.
