Hi there.

How far behind is this repro from the official in HA ?
Or maybe it's ahead ? Or completely different ?

I have some things that work in this repro that does not work in the "built-in" one.
Like setting preset modes - comfort and eco - while in reduced mode.

But I see some of the settings (that I dont use though) like heating curve and so on is missing in this one.

Nonetheless this repro is working fine for me as it is now. Was just wondering what differences there might be.

What are you talking about? This is the one of the core.

Several places it states it's not the same (as I read it)
Code is also not the same, as some things works in this and not in the one from HA.

This one is now far ahead of the official repo. It is now also possible to add it via HACS. Strange that the heating curve does not work for you - it has been implemented here (PR #117), it works for me both in this one as well as in the official integration.

The core integration was abandoned beginning of this year, as I understood. I started to work on that as it was lacking some features that I needed (Heating curve, multi device support) before I noticed that there is a HACS integration that is still maintained. I would say by now it has diverged quite a bit.

Like setting preset modes - comfort and eco - while in reduced mode.

This is fixed in the next release.

Btw, for whom it may concern, for some heaters, e.g. mine 200-W

setting preset modes - comfort and eco

is not supported via vicare app nor cloud api. But after switching to a local esphome optolink integration I can use this now :)

Nice, I also have two 200-W, one supports eco/comfort the other does not (Viessmann community discussion). I would be interested in an ESPhome solution as well!

I would be interested in an ESPhome solution as well!

Here is the documentation:
https://deploy-preview-2737--esphome.netlify.app/components/optolink.html
It is not yet merged to the official repo. Work is in progress, and you can see the discussions on the esphome PR (link to comment with example for my 200-W):
esphome/esphome#4453 (comment)
And the work in progress on the author's repo:
