Parity Signer troubleshooting
- Error! “Bad input data. Input generated within unknown network”

You are trying to sign transaction in the network which has not yet been added to your Parity Signer. Steps to solve this:
- Find network that you are trying to sing operation in on Nova Wallet metadata portal
- Select “Chains Specs” tab on top, scan QR code with Parity Signer to add the missing network
- Select “Metadata” tab on top, scan QR code with Parity Signer and wait until the update is finished
- Done! You have successfully added new network to Parity Signer with it’s up-to-date metadata. If you experiencing any issues please report to us
Error: “All parsing attempts failed with following errors...Network spec version decoded from extensions (version) differs from the version in metadata (version)”
Your Parity Signer has outdated information about the network you are signing a transaction in. Steps to solve this:
- Find the network that you are trying to sign operation in on Nova Wallet metadata portal
- Select “Metadata” tab on top, scan the QR code with Parity Signer, and wait until the update is finished
- Done! You have successfully updated network information in the Parity Signer. If you experiencing any issues please report to us
- Relaunch Parity Signer and try scanning the QR code again
- Done! Scanning works again. If you experiencing any issues please report to us
Error: “Failed to decode extensions...Network spec version decoded from extensions (version) differs from the version in metadata (version)”
Your Parity Signer has outdated information about the network you are signing a transaction in. Steps to solve this:
- Find the network that you are trying to sign operation in on Nova Wallet metadata portal
- Select “Metadata” tab on top, scan the QR code with Parity Signer, and wait until the update is finished
- Done! You have successfully updated network information in the Parity Signer. If you experiencing any issues please report to us

- Issue description — what happened?
- Parity Signer information: device platform (iOS/Android), app version and the issue on Parity Signer device (if any)
- Nova Wallet information: device platform (iOS/Android), app version and the issue on Nova Wallet device (if any)
NOTE: Never share your mnemonic passphrase (12 words) and/or other representation of your private keys! Admins/team members will never request it from you. Store your mnemonic passphrase/keys and any backups securely and privately.
Nova Wallet metadata portal Polkadot, Kusama, Westend and other parachains
- You need to add any new networks that you would like to sing operations in into the Parity Signer. For that, please use Metadata portal link, scan "Chain spec" QR and then "Metadata" QR for adding new network to Parity Signer
- You need to maintain updates for networks' metadata on the Parity Signer. Usually, every network does the runtime upgrade every 2-4 weeks, therefore before signing any new operation check that you have the latest version of metadata on your Parity Signer
- Cross-chain transfers — you need to have metadata for both networks (e.g. you would like to transfer DOT from Polkadot to Acala, in this case you need to have both Polkadot and Acala networks in Parity Signer with up-to-date metadata)
