Before continuing with our divide and conquer plan, we should take a day to get through as many failing specs as possible, from this branch: samvera/hyku#2046

Ideally we want to merge this branch into our hyku upgrade branch so that we don't duplicate efforts down the line. We're going to spend a bunch of time fixing errors from the upgrade, that we will have to do again when this branch comes into hyku so the idea is to get ahead of it.
