ℹ Computer information

  • PowerToys version: v0.29.3
  • PowerToy Utility: PT Run
  • Running PowerToys as Admin: No
  • Windows build number: 20H2 / Build 19042.685

📝 Provide detailed reproduction steps (if any)

I have a 4k laptop screen wich I use with a FHD external monitor. When I start PT while hooked up to the monitor, and then open PT Run on the 4k Screen, the PT Run window is slightly pixelated with red and blue pixels on the edge of text (probably font smoothing artifacts).

📷 Screenshots

It's a little hard to see on the screenshot, but you can see the font smoothing red and blue pixels when you zoom in.

@schmensch
what DPI scaling % are you using on the 4K monitor?
Does it only happen when you have the external monitor connected to the laptop?

The 4k Monitor has a scaling of 200%. The other one only has a scaling of 100%. When I disconnect the non-4k Monitor and then restart PT, the PT Run UI isn't pixelated.

@schmensch
thanks for the info, we'll try to replicate it. I suspect we are not setting the proper DPI-awareness level in the app.

I have the same problem... Think this is a major issue because it really destroys the otherwise beautiful UI
