Problem with "material-icon-theme.files.associations"

I couldn't find a fix for my problem in the repository issues or in any search result.
I have some trouble using the "material-icon-theme.files.associations" settings.
I tested it in two different environments. Code Server (Coder) on Debian 11 and Gitpod.
But without success.

settings.json (User)

"material-icon-theme.files.associations": {
  ".eslintrc.functions.json": "Eslint",
  "tsconfig.functions.json": "Tsconfig",
  "next-i18next.config.js": "I18n"
},

Did i miss something?
Is there a way to force the extension to reload the setting?
Or someone knows if i can check if the exentsions did load the settings but has some problems?

Thanks for this question :) Just reproduced it on Code Server and also on GitHub Codespaces. It does not seem to work at all for remote environments, so no problem on your side I think. I'll try to analyze the issue and check if I can improve the behavior of this customization.

It is possible to fix this problem by clearing the browsers picture and data cache.
