Space Exodus currently relies on hacking the existing space race victory. While it was relatively easy to set up this way, it has drawbacks, such as:

  • Required to display meaningless travel time
  • No incentive to build more than a minimal spaceship as it doesn't add to score
  • The player doesn't leave until the next turn when the achievement is granted

It might be better to switch off space race and instead create something new. E.g.

  • A fuelling plant building with high gold upkeep that fuels the space fleet
  • A launch platform building with high shield cost that is required in X cities, or X% of cities, of covering X% of population in order to launch
  • A wonder that allows construction to start on these buildings
