As the need for such a resource is time-sensitive for our project, we are constructing an ontology (this repo) based on formalizing natural language typologies from high-credibility sources, and metadata schemas of prominent databases documenting hazard and disaster events. Terms were drawn from the Integrated Research on Disaster Risk, "IRDR" organization's "Peril and Hazard Glossary" (2014) https://www.irdrinternational.org/knowledge_pool/publications/173 and the UNDRR's "Hazard definition and classification Review (2020), https://www.undrr.org/publication/hazard-definition-and-classification-review

Additional terms were pulled from the metadata file https://cemhs.asu.edu/sites/default/files/2018-05/sheldus_readme.pdf of the "Spatial Hazard and Events Database for the United States" (SHELDUS).
