Data lost during long external editing session

Current behaviour

1. Using MacVim as an editor (configured as open -A MacVim)
2. Edited a note, which opened in an external window as expected
3. During editing, issued a :w to write my changes to disk but did not exit the editor because I was not yet done
4. Some time later, having added more text, issued a :wq to write and close the editor
5. Noticed Joplin did not update the text on screen
6. Clicked the Stop Editing button, still no change
7. Clicked to edit note again, note opened in an external window with the same text as on the Joplin screen - the edits between steps 3 and 4 above were missing entirely

I was able to use TimeMachine to go back to the top of the hour and grab the note, which instead of missing tens of lines of text from the tests I'd been doing over time was only missing three lines from the start of the last test. Once i had the note saved with all the text again, I experimented by adding some text, writing the file to disk, then adding more text and then writing and closing. However Joplin picked up the edits from the second save as well. Perhaps there was some timeout between steps 3 and 4 above where it stopped looking for changes from the edit file?

Read in the externally edited file when the 'stop editing' was issued

It has continued, but I've yet to notice a pattern I could report. Often I will tell vim to write the file, switch to the joplin window to see if it picked up the new data, and if not go back to vim to have it write to another file and then close, turn off external editing in joplin, turn it on again, then read the contents of the other file in to get the changes.

I only just upgraded yesterday I believe, and haven't done any testing today to see if it happens.
